Re: Spec Ops Pack Rat discontinued?

Anyone recommend and organizer that is similar but is not the Maxpedition Neatfreak? I tried the Neatfreak but didn't care for the internal layout. Just didn't work for my items as well as the pack rat does.

Spec Ops Pack Rat discontinued?

Hi folks, it has been a while since I posted here but I do reference this forum often as my gear and prepping obsession continues. What I am hoping you folks can help me figure out is: 1) has Spec Ops Brand discontinued the Pack-Rat organizer? 2) if so does anyone have good leads on where to still g...

Re: Fleece jacket like the old TAD Ranger Hoodies

I am looking for a fleece jacket, I really like the older versions of the TAD Ranger Hoodie. The new version is too streamlined with too few pockets and I don't care for the new style. I am have been searching the web for weeks looking and all I can find are cheap knock offs. Does anyone know of so...

Re: Good sources for genuine PCU/ECWCS system?

Thanks all. moab it depends on the brand I am either a large or xl in most shirts and jackets. Sleeves are often the issue. Pants I think I am a 34x34. Fortbraggsurplus.com and mcguires surplus are two sites I have been on and was wondering if they were good sites or not. The big reason I am researc...

Re: Good sources for genuine PCU/ECWCS system?

Thank you all for your responses! They are most appreciated.

What alternatives are out there that are similar price wise with equal or better performance?

I have found the PCU/ECWCS to be much cheaper than most options I have come across.

Thanks again all.

Good sources for genuine PCU/ECWCS system?

I am looking to slowly gather either a full PCU or ECWCS clothing system. I am still sorting out which system I want to go with. I'm leaning towards the PCU system from Beyound but I'm still researching. My biggest concern is finding a good source for genuine gear. I want to avoid fakes, bad sellers...

Gunbelt for use under Kifaru waist belt?

I currently own two Kifaru packs, a Scout, and a ZXR. I have been using my instructors belt under my packs but I am looking for something a little more comfortable. I find the width ( 1.75" ) and stiffness to be a little uncomfortable when my pack belt is over the instructors belt. The question now ...

Re: Help w shotshell conversion tool kit/converting 12ga pay

There is actually only half of the crimp left and folded in. There is MUCH less pressure than a stock crimp or roll crimp. All fired rounds opened up perfectly. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-zKAaKrIS7sg/UOoQ9A33jbI/AAAAAAAAAk4/nM-hYFMr3cM/s512/photo%25203.JPG I plan to get a overshot card cutte...

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

I'm talking about recasting a 1.125oz bird load into a 1.125oz #1 buck load. Same weight. Same shot cup. Same powder. Same primer. How will that blow a gun up? I'll stop asking when you find me a shotgun reloading set up for $30 or less. I agree with you. Lots of people simply claim no don't do it ...

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

I am NOT an expert but I am confident that this is safe FOR ME... Anyone else must judge for themselves. There are a great deal of variables at play here to say the least. As I said this is NOT a long term solution. Wax slugs and ring/cut slugs have been around for ages. Those BOTH would likely have...

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

reloading gear up here in Canada is much more rare on the used/garage sale/flea market scene. If I could get a great deal like that on reloading gear I would have long ago. I tried this method to test the viability of putting away cases of birdshot for $65/250 vs buckshot/slugs for $150/125. The abi...

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

I have had good luck with my converted shells.

I will get some shooting results up once I get another warm break in the weather.

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

I have opened up and re-cast 125 shells so far.

I plan to try them out soon and I will post up my results.

No luck with more tools, so far I just use common hand tools to open the birdshot shell, then recast with Lee Slug Mold. I insert the slug and recrimp by hand.

Will keep you guys posted.

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

Has anyone had bad results from recasting into a slug then putting it back into the once birdshot load? Not accuracy related I mean. I have caught some flak from reloading "experts" that this can't be done. Isn't safe. Will cause gun to explode. Etc. I am new to loading/reloading but to my simple mi...

Re: Help me compile a shotshell conversion tool kit

You could always scroll down a bit and look at my post on home made light buckshot loads. 9 #00 buckshot won't fit in a 1 1/8 oz. load like most of the cheap bulk shotgun shells. But 9 #1 buckshot pellets fit just fine. I was also able to make a very light recoiling load using 6 pellets of #0 bucks...

Help w shotshell conversion tool kit/converting 12ga payload

I have been shooting shotguns for years, hunting, shooting clays, etc. I have recently starting shooting a Fabarm Martial Pro Forces 14; one thing that has limited my dedicated training time is the high cost of buckshot/slugs up here in Canada. Birdshot tends to destroy targets and target stands. I ...

Re: Emergency water packets

Thanks all. I also think they are a pretty huge rip off. My issue is keeping containers from rupturing in my BOB since it gets crazy cold here. I think this winter I will try filling some container 3/4 full and see how it goes. :) Leave the cap OFF, fill them, freeze them, and then shave the ice do...

Emergency water packets

I am looking to add some emergency water to my vehicle BOB and Medic Kit but I have a few requirements and after searching I am coming up empty handed. I have a concern though. Where I live it gets COLD. Over the winter the average temp is pretty close to -40. So far I have found several brands of w...
