Re: Rounded Bolt Heads

Before you put the new drain plug in, coat that fucker with anti-seize, or you'll have the same problem next oil change. I've been through this before. By anti-seize, you mean red loctite, right? Thanks! Yeah, this stuff: Heavy Duty Anti-Seize Dude, you toally stepped all over my joke. OTOH, now I ...

Re: Rounded Bolt Heads

Pounded a socket onto the bolt head and it finally came off. Really really really tight. Funny thing is I tried that the other day and no luck. Must have gotten it loosened enough and/or built up the bolt head with shaved metal in the "right" places to make it stick. Hadn't time to examine the thre...

Re: Rounded Bolt Heads

It is aluminum. Vice grips were unsucessful. Either the bolt is welded on there or I don't have enough hand strength to close the jaws tight enough (and I've got decent hand strength). I even filed a couple flat spots on the head for good purchase :? My tools are fine. I think I'm going to try some ...

Re: Rounded Bolt Heads

Yes, definitely a new plug is needed.

I'll try the pipe wrench first as I think I'll need the leverage they can give me.

Lesson: don't let people with air tools change your oil.

Rounded Bolt Heads

So it's time to change the oil on the small car. Damn drain plug is torqued on to hell and back (I didn't do it :p ). Rounding off the head enough that a socket or box end wrench will not hold. Solutions? Would a vise grip have enough grip? Do these things actually work? I don't want to resort to ha...

Re: 6m v. 10m

I was actually contradicting these types of posts, not yours. If we're talking about NVIS antennas, shouldn't we also be talking about MUF? No. NVIS is not dependent on MUF. NVIS is basically THE method between ground wave (direct) and sky wave (skip) propagation methods. Its' frequency is dependen...
