Re: Would we still have water & power if COVID-2019 comes to the U.S.?

In general, I tend to agree. My question would be how do the utilities differ between china and the US? I assume the chinese system has more leverage to compel utility workers to show up for work, but to what extent I really have no idea. I don't expect COVID-2019 to become a thing, but the broader...

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

Good evening, somebody at work shared an image from the website windy.com which purports to show sulfur dioxide, that is SO2, over China. There are massive spikes over Wuhan and Chong Ching two cities that used to have high speed rail connections five times a day. Because I just got to my phone and...

and it also appears to be mutating very rapidly I'm trying to find an actual reference to it, but having no luck right now. Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

So for gloves, I got the Mechanix Utility one because that's what I could find on short notice local to me, and it seems to have enough articulation in the trigger finger. I did some dryfire at home, but at the range it was just too much so eventually I just shucked it and stuck HotHands into my poc...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Anybody have any recommendations for shooting gloves? I have an outdoor 2 day pistol class this weekend and the temperature looks to be in the mid 40's as a high, with one of the mornings starting at 28°. Bleah. My local stores don't carry much if any, and the gloves they do have just seem so bulky....

Great vehicles. I assume since it's the full time 4wd that it's a V8? I've said it on here before, but if it's the V6, check the radiator/transmission class action suit that should have been a recall. 2005-2010 or 2011 models of frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra. Basically, a plastic tube can break and ...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: Contains Politics)

Even when the USSR was breaking it we didn't see that level of crazy. There is no level of crazy that can't be passed nowadays. Example, yesterday in one of the buildings my wife works at, a k- 9 officer and his dog arrived to give a presentation. One of the women who works in that building ,watche...

That should not have worked. http://motleydogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Large-dog-versus-small-dog-animated-gif.gif I think applicable here is "Don't count on luck, but luck counts." I have the Anker Roav C1 dashcam in all my cars. After one proved its usefulness in an accident proving I was not at fault, I got one for every other car.

Large police presence as security, but by merely cutting a fence and sneaking in over a creek, one single 19 year old can cause this kind of destruction to these families. :vmad: Gilroy used to be my backyard, and my sister went every year except this year. I hate this.

My handle here is "norcalprep", but I've moved to the East Coast over two years ago. Since moving here, I've met so many people gleeful to make homelessness a west coast problem, including a current sheriff in a West Virginia town bragging how cheap a one way ticket is for his community. Livestreaming videos assures nutters an audience of millions and instant infamy. Maybe social media should disable this capability so future whack jobs won't be able to livestream their atrocities and these sick videos never see the light of day except at jury trials. https://www.businessinsider.co...

Definitely it's rife for abuse, but, for me, it feels more like 'lesser of two evils.' I had friends who had to deal with a similar situation in Sacramento (https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article101473237.html) as they didn't want for everything to devolve into patrols, but they really had ...

Re: You're at work. Things go bad. What would you do?

I start a new job on January 1st. I'll be across the street from one of the largest hospitals in the region. I cant decide if the pros outweigh the cons. If things go bad, I can probably shelter in my office just fine, but getting out and to my family requires driving right in front of the hospital ...

I never did follow up on this thread, sorry. As an epilogue: by day three, all of the loose skin had tightened back up, with tingling negligible. By day four, all tingling was gone and there was no evidence that she had ever been burned. The skin remained viable and never discolored or flaked off af...

Too many cooks in the kitchen

Today, with too many cooks in the kitchen, a lack of coordination resulted in a pan hot out of the oven left on the counter. My wife, thinking to move it, picked it up with her bare hand and burned herself. Despite having medical training, she was so surprised it was hot she was just stuck in place....

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

HST is a very popular handgun and rifle round ATM for LEAs and self defense purposes. I am certain it is a profit thing. Also this time of the year a lot of agencies just got their funding and are buying their annual allotment of ammo. By shutting non-LEOs out of the market they can insure that the...
