Re: Storing get home equipment

I rented a 5'x5' locker yesterday. I am currently using it for storing pistols/ammo I am using later in the day when I go to the range. I will be bringing my Vz-52 with all of its ammo and dropping it off in a few days, along with a get home bag with food and stuff. I may switch it out for the Glock...

Re: Storing get home equipment

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but does the storage container you're looking at have climate control? If not, then keep in mind the gear could be subjected to the cold and heat. You might want to keep the ammo in a sealed ammo can and the gun(s) well oiled. I would probably just oil the g...

Re: Storing get home equipment

If you're getting a storage unit, then throw a bicycle, a pump, some extra tubes and a couple tools for the bike in there and call it good. Since you've got the space, why not give yourself the option? Craigslist that shit and pick up a beater that someones letting go cheap. Spend an hour or two gi...

Re: Storing get home equipment

Everything I'll have in the locker will get me home. Home is 15 miles from work. I'll have food for three days, water/water storage, and tools to get me home. Plus a tent and sleeping system. I doubt it will take me more than a day to get home, but you never know, that's why it's called prepping :wi...

Re: Storing get home equipment

As a truck driver your on the short end of the stick. If you employer says no guns then your reduced to no guns or risking losing your job if found out. I'm not a truck driver, I drive a truck to work. As for a bug out bag just start carrying a small gym bag with a change of cloths and a lunch. Onc...

Storing get home equipment

My job precludes bringing a GHB in my truck with any kind of firearm. However, there are a few U-Store-It type places within easy walking distance. I thought about leaving supplies and a rifle in one of the storage lockers in case things go crazy while I'm at work and I have to either walk home or s...

Re: Ammunition stockpiles

I've stockpiled .357 Hollowpoints as I got a smokin' deal on a GP-100 and it came with 700 rounds of it. My main handguns are in 10mm and .40 S&W, so I have a cache of FMJs. Why? FMJs in .401" are flat points, and have really wide meplats. They feed reliably through my autoloaders, and while they a...

If you want an all around pistol, you got the wrong caliber :) With that out of my system, I picked up an RIA in bright nickel. I'm still looking for a set of pearl grips for it.

Re: What are YOU currently lusting after? (firearms related)

I'm seriously lusting after a CZ 9mm Longslide. I saw one at the gun show. I've dropped $4K in guns and ammo since 1/1/2012, so I was too broke to pay the $1200 for it then :gonk:

Re: Is this a dumb idea? (cheap "Go" bag gun for the car)

NC is hazy, hot, and humid during the summer months. If I could keep a firearm in a get home bag I'd find a couple of used S&W K-Frame revolvers, preferably with 4" barrels in stainless steel. Sight radius is decent and you'll get good accuracy out of them. And speed loaders are $10 each, so get a c...

Have you shot the Glock yet? I'll bet the problem with the Beretta is either with the magazine or with operator error (limp wristing).

Re: Picked up a Mosin Nagant 91-30

I know that you clean a rifle after shooting. Just didn't know if using that kind ammo makes more difficult to clean it. Cleaning up after surplus ammo requires some hot water then some regular cleaning supplies. If you don't want the hassle, Silver Bear makes cheap, non-corrosive ammo in that cali...

Re: Shooting high with a bead sight - seeking suggestions

You are still point shooting that shotgun like you were trap or skeet shooting. IIRC on Mossbergs, there is a section on the top of the receiver that is flat with some lines cut in it. The bead should be centered on that section, just poking over the top of the receiver if you are holding the shotgu...

Re: Question about choke tubes

No, you can't use a 20 gauge choke in a 16 gauge barrel. If you want to shoot 20 gauge, get a 20 gauge shotgun or get an insert that lets you shoot 20 gauge shells in your 16 gauge shotgun.

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms rela

I bought an all matching, Chinese SKS today. I'm picking up 1000, once fired 30-06 brass from a local guy. I missed out on the Enfield brass by a close margin.

Re: Reloading Ammo

If a pistol can't feed 115gr FMJs, there's something wrong with it. And who actually tests plinking rounds for accuracy, especially pistol ammo? Buying bulk FMJs isn't rocket science. If you want to save money on reloading range ammo, hit the link I put up earlier or by plated bullets.

Re: Food's done, now to protect it... Questions

I can't look since I'm at work, but a Palmetto State Armory complete rifle is about $600 and seems to be a great deal. If you want to drop $1000 you get the same rifle and an Aimpoint red dot.
