Re: ZS Hot or Not: Combat Loadout edition "Mall Ninja"

Discipline, dude. Seriously. If I can't trust you with something so simple why should I trust you to do anything else? I'm not by any means downplaying performance, mind you. We don't regurgitate this shit because someone told us to; we do it because it is, I don't know, a defining factor of our cho...

Re: ZS Hot or Not: Combat Loadout edition "Mall Ninja"

Dave, I can't figure out if you're just being sarcastic or facetious. I guess it doesn't matter. I grew up in an Army where it didn't matter if you could shoot 1000 on Table VIII and had a 99% Operational readiness if you couldn't shine your boots. It's one package; being a soldier. I had a CSM tell...

Oh shit let me alter my beliefs and tone down my fervor before I don't fit in on an interwebz chat forum. My near zealot adherence to standards has put me in yet ANOTHER situation is which I've lost the opportunity to make friends. Shoot.

No but you clean off the outside of the weapon with any more then a dry cloth and it attracts more dust. Well guess Im just a bad soldier and leader..My whole squads weapons are dirty. Go ahead and quote me where I say to oil it down in CLP or that fancy weapon wipes. I don't blame you, I blame you...

Yeah he's so busy on patrol he can make a duct tape chest rig. Discipline. You wipe your ass after you shit, yeah? Even though you're just going to shit again? Just because you are deployed or have a high op-tempo doesn't mean you get to slack on basic soldier skills. Leadership 101. EDIT for...

Re: Doggie Gear (UPDATE W/ NEW PICS ON PG 4)

I just picked up the Ruff Wear Approach Pack for my pooch and he loves it. I have always been told to put Labs to work and give them a job, and his whole attitude shifts when he is carrying water and his collapsible water bowl. He walks with a purpose. I can't really describe it well. I thought abou...

I've seen multiple KLRs on craigslist, but at least out here I'm seeing $2-3k for 04 and up. And thanks, guys, now I want one.

Re: The Magpul iPhone cases are shipping.

So is it just a plastic case? What other features does it have? Water resistant? Crush-proof? And it'd be nice to see and it's be nice to see the front of it? I'm guessing that it's just a shell back.

Go team Otterbox!

Re: Why Smith and Wesson why ?

I wonder how many people have successfully defended their homes with an AR. Not trying to be snarky, this is a real thing I'm wondering. I read plenty about shotguns or handguns winning the day, but I don't think I've ever come across an article wherein the guy used an AR.

Hey jare - thanks for starting this thread, as I'm about to adopt a new best friend this week. I've hung out with him a few times at the shelter and I'm ready to bring him home. I was just thinking about dog packs and all that goes along with it as he's going to learn the wonders of the outdoors ins...

Oh shit, I forgot to absolve the responsibility of the buyer to do any freaking homework, whoops. Might as well, since you've absolved the seller of any obligation to honestly represent his product. Yeah, caveat emptor etc. They're a company, not a charity, or church, or even a brotherhood (no matt...

I'd stay. I'm in the market for a community and I've been brought on board. She's an irritation, but inconsequential compared to safety, food, shelter...ect. I'd turn the other cheek and take whatever BS she dished out. Who cares? If she influences the leader to can me and send me packing then I'd m...

Re: On Vacation

I read it as an example of what might happen; not a definitive 'this has happened'. The point, I think, was to take you out of the comfort zone you've acquired with your preps and make you react. The wife and the druglord scenario was to push buttons and rile you up and get you thinking. If you don'...

Man... does no one shoot because it's fun, anymore? "oh it doesn't have stopping power!" Who cares? It's fun as hell to shoot. It also kills snakes dead so whatever. I've got one and I love it. Goes on the trail with me me more often than any other of my guns. Get all snobby if you want and bemoan a...

Re: On Vacation

OP I understand what you want. You want people to really think about what it would mean once no one has to be civilized anymore, about the difficulties of being somewhere unprepared for a catastrophe. HOWEVER comma what you didn't account for was that a large portion of people here will take ONE sma...

You still aren't addressing the issue of a BS statement made to sound like a rule of thumb. Using 'effective' as a fixed standard doesn't work because, as we've noted in this thread, effective for me isn't necessarily effective for you.

Re: What's more important in a BOV? Capacity, or reliabilit

sorry for thread necro but if something were 'cheap and reliable', why wouldn't it be effective? Same for cheap and effective; how does that imply unreliability? The only one I can think of that would work is 'reliable and effective', because something reliable and effective is probably expensive. a...

If you're bugging in, then teaching your family basic security measures and instituting a rotation 'fire watch'. Also ensuring your house has a safe room, multiple exits and contingency plans for if things go very wrong. If you're bugging out keep the bow for hunting, but a good solid knife is alway...

Repacked my truck's emergency bag. Added cold weather clothing and hand warmers. Then picked up a large tac-box to blatantly rip off KS Trekker. Inside went: 7.5 gallons of water, new jumper cables, one of those self-jump batteries, new tow straps, a set of ratchet straps, Slime, a 12x12 tarp ...
