Re: Pre-Assembled Blowout, IFAK & Car Kits - Deals Right Now

I picked up the blue bag for my car. Thanks for the recommendation, Major. I spent a few hours shopping around different sites today looking for a solid IFAK for a backpack and a trauma kit. The Dark Angel trauma kits are sold out, though I'd really like to find something less expensive than $155 if...

Re: Pre-Assembled Blowout, IFAK & Car Kits - Deals Right Now

Dave, do you have the D.A.R.K. Military-designated kit or the standard one? I'm not sure if that's posted as a legal protection for the seller or if there's something that is illegal for civilians to possess in that kit.

Re: Pre-Assembled Blowout, IFAK & Car Kits - Deals Right Now

Doing a bit of research on the different components before I pick a kit. Watched the training videos for the Halo and Z-Fold products. The Z-Fold bandage training has me thinking that I'll have to take a moment to lose my lunch prior to application. It's a live-tissue application on a pig. Very educ...

Re: Offset Iron Sights

So, I received the knockoff Surefire offsets today. I tried to bust out the camera but the battery pack was out of juice, so it's on the charger right now. My initial impressions are as follows: The box is a non-descript cardboard box, which is fine by me because that means that no marketing people ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

PSA (http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.ph ... eiver.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) has blemished lowers available right now for $60. That's the best price I've seen on lowers for a while.

Re: Offset Iron Sights

I ordered a set of Surefire knock-offs for $28 that had a lot of very positive reviews. Since the Surefire and Duecks run $250 I figured if they're crap I'm not out much, but if they're solid (some of the reviews noted that they were still dead-on at 500+ rounds) I saved almost 90% of the cost. I'll...

Re: A-TACS AU Versus A-TACS FG

Thanks LQ, that'd be great. I put in my order for the gear today but I'd still like to see how the FG looks in the environment. I'm considering (a long ways down the road, when I have money again) getting a low-profile rig in FG.

Re: Where to Buy Medical Products: The Definitive Thread

My local CERT team would be responding primarily to tornadoes, earthquakes, floods and potentially a mass shooter scenario. I'd like to find a car kit that addresses these items effectively.

Re: Offset Iron Sights

Thank you for the quick response, JT. Do you recall which brands you used? It sounds like you used several different types, was there a particular configuration that worked better and that you found you were able to adapt especially quickly to?

Pre-Assembled Blowout, IFAK & Car Kits - Deals Right Now

I'm looking to pick up a few different medical kits and would like to know if anyone has links to deals available right now. I'd like to find pre-assembled kits that won't require additional items purchased. I'm looking for a blowout kit to be included with my range gear, and another one to go on my...

Offset Iron Sights

Has anyone run offset iron sights on their AR-15? If so, what is your overall impression? I was surprised to find in my MilCopp class that the canted shooting wasn't as difficult as I expected, and it would be made easier with offsets. Specifically, I'm looking to put the offsets on a scoped AR-15 r...

Re: Where to Buy Medical Products: The Definitive Thread

Can anyone advise on a stellar deal available right now for blowout kits, FAKs, and a car kit? 1) The blowout kits and FAKs will be attached to tactical rigs. 2) The car kit's going to be used for CERT (http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) activities. 3) ...

Re: A-TACS AU Versus A-TACS FG

JT, the focus for the A-TACS camouflage would be to remain unseen in the local terrain. I have a separate setup for grey man situations, where I agree behavior in interactions would be a significant concern. Doc, I was pleasantly surprised to find that not all companies are assessing additional cost...

Re: Esstac Boar Rig

I've had great experiences with SKD every time I've used them. Unfortunately, SKD doesn't stock any of the Esstac gear in A-TACs so I've gone directly to Esstac for this order. On the positive side, the people at Esstac have been very helpful and they'll be shipping for free, as well as being out-of...

Re: A-TACS AU Versus A-TACS FG

JT, that's a good question. The simple answer is that I'd like to figure out which of the two A-TACS patterns will most effectively fool the human eye in my local area. The electronic surveillance-defeating properties of both A-TACS patterns is why I chose to go with those instead of other pattern o...

A-TACS AU Versus A-TACS FG

I live in the St. Louis metro area and I'm trying to decide between ordering my gear in A-TACS AU or A-TACS FG. I'd like to hear some opinions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of each in a temperate climate that sees all four seasons fully manifest most years. I'm concerned that while the ...

Re: Esstac Boar Rig

Thanks for that feedback, Kutter. Is that pack sold in either of the A-TACS patterns? Any suggestion on where I would find a good deal on one? It's probably not going to be in the budget for a while but I figure it doesn't hurt to start looking.

Re: Esstac Boar Rig

Esstac's North American vendor is SKD tactical. I've been intensely interested in the Boar for some time now, but once i found out about the unique properties of A-TACS I decided that my future purchases would be in that pattern. I pored over SKD's site and didn't see anything Esstac in either A-TAC...

Re: Esstac Boar Rig

My first rig was a knockoff of a black Blackhawk crossdraw vest. I then picked up a rifle vest when Blackwater was closing out all of their gear after the big Nisour Square screw-up. The Blackwater chest rig is ACU, but has sewn-in double-stack front mag pouches and side pouches. It's not a bad setu...

Esstac Boar Rig

Has anyone purchased gear from Esstac? Specifically, I'm interested in your thoughts on the Boar series. I'm sold on the system, but there is a multitude of options that I have to pin down. 1) First and foremost, I have to decide between the Load Bearing Boar (LBB) or the modular 3-part system (Boar...
