Re: Seeking RoIP solution advice
Well I'm a new Ham so there are others out there with much more experience than I but it is my understanding that encryption on the amateur bands is prohibited. However there are some very obscure digital encoding/decoding protocols that nobody uses anymore that could function as a "unlocked gate". ...

Personal Locator Beacon
Hello All, The Wifey and the kids are getting pretty darn good at skiing (we live in Utah) and I'm taking them into the back county a bit. We haven't experienced any close calls but everybody says we should all be carrying Personal Locator Beacons (PLB). The other website I frequent is expeditionpor...

Hello Everybody, I ran across a quick review over on expeditionportal about a inexpensive mobile 2 meter radio and I thought it might prove interesting to some here. The text is below: I'll be the first to admit the capability of 2-meter, or HAM radio, greatly exceeds my knowledge of, and use for it...

Toyota has such an awesome resource in Hino Absolutely Agree 1000% Check out these smallish diesel engines that Hino already manufactures and already meet emission standards http://www.hino.com/businessinmotion/story_605.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They have a 4 cylinder engi...

Re: Toyota Tundra....with a Cummins?
I was hoping for a CAT diesel in the toyotas, personally. Really? Why? I like CAT equipment but I don't see any products that would fit a non-industrial use vehicle. The product I've linked to below would be perfect for a light duty pick-up truck 156 to 300 hp (I'm not sure on torque) and it meets ...

Re: The Dead at Destitute Mountain
I would prefer that Nick become the Blue plate special at the Zed Cafe. Perhaps wounded, weaponless, trapped in the basement with little food, with zombies on the other side of the door and no possibility of escape or rescue, and not even suicide as an option. I like the idea of Mr. "Man with a pla...

I can make the stickers, but i'd have to do a 3-4-color layup in vinyl (don't have the printer set up yet). It's a very labor-intensive process but will last immesurably longer than printed stickers in the sun. It will be so much work i'd prefer to limit people to 2 each...i know some of you must h...

Re: Went to a HORRIBLE Gun Show this weekend in OKC.
The 90s was either the Golden Age, or the Swan Song, of the epic fairgrounds gunshow. In pre-(real) Internet California, the Crossroads of the West shows were where you got your hundred dollar cases of 556 and x39, your $200 SKS, etc. After the ban things went downhill, but that's no surprise, bumm...

Unless someone in the military knows of this company, and corrects my thinking, I really want to throw the caution flag on this one. Caution is warranted. I checked my Manta account (about as accurate as Wikipedia...) which lists LiteFighter Systems, LLC as a company with "5 employees or less" and ...

Weekend toy has become my daily driver
Okay so I got an offer on my old BMW that I couldn't refuse, which means I'm down to just my weekend toy. I've thrown quite a bit of money at this and I'm thinking I'm just about done but I'd like opinions from the group as to what else is "needed". This vehicle is going to pull double duty as my da...

Re: Whats the big frigen deal?
Hmmmm - I think the question you want answered isn't the question(s) you asked. If I may paraphrase, you want some justification/rationalization of your desire to buy and wear cool 'black ops' looking gear, put it on and pretend to shoot bad guys/zombies. I don't think there is anything particularly...

He worked at this literally until the day he died, and he did die at his workbench.... If any of you are in my neck of the woods, head up to Ogden UT and you can see JMB's actual workbench.... yes the one he died upon. http://theunionstation.org/index.php/museums-2/john-m-browning-firearms-museum/"...

Re: Does a ham do this?
These new "radio only" operators accepted the term and made it their own, proudly proclaiming themselves to be hams. So, when a ham reads the title of your thread they immediately think you're talking about the operator, and it's confusing until you understand what's really being asked. I always ge...

I guess it depends if the paper plate is the aggressor or not in this scenario. Can you provide more info? Does the plate have a history of aggression? A criminal background? Was it acting aggressively toward you or others? Was it armed? Was it legally in that location, etc?   This...

Re: Should firearms be defensive ?
I only have a few firearms. I use my rifles for putting holes in paper plates when I am 300-400 yards away.
I also have a couple of hand guns - also to put holes in paper albeit at shorter distances.
.. not sure that falls into 'offensive' or 'defensive' categories.

Okay it looks like the professionals have spoken - KnightoftheRoc seems to be the word of authority for many subjects. I'd like to offer my view from a distinctly non-professional, very amateur position. About six months ago I purchased a Ridgid brand Reciprocating saw. I know this is probably laugh...
