Re: anyone have any experience with this knife?Ckrt m21
i have an m21-14 and an m16-14le. both are awesome and while i like the blade shape of the 21 a bit more, my major gripe with the knife is the lack of serrations or jimping on the flipper. The m16s got the jimping, so there's no issue when opening the blade. With my m21, i noticed that i always get ...

Re: Considering a Condor 3 day Assault Pack for BOB
That's good, 6 miles. What was that like 2 hours uphill and 1 hour downhill of actual hiking? You think it will still be OK if you had to wear that pack all day long, or if you had to hike 12 miles or more in it? That is the problem with a Bug Out, you pack for a full evacuation and being outside a...

Re: Considering a Condor 3 day Assault Pack for BOB
So you guys don't think the Condor 3-Day Assault Pack, or the 5.11 RUSH 72 would make good B.O.B.'s ? Sorry, no. I have the Rush 72 and I've used it a few times. Not comfortable, it's coming apart in places and has zero stabilization. Imagine 40 lbs of kit on your back just flopping around, it just...

Re: Knife i'm making for a coworker
I love the shape, but just at first glance, it looks a tad obtuse angle wise... As in, unless it's primarily to be used for chopping stuff, it may be a bit "fat" to slice through things well... But pictures of different angles might help! she's definitely a tad obtuse, but that was actually intenti...

Damn, i never did post any follow up. About a week after the original post decided to enlist and have just been busy. Anyways, i completed the knife some time ago so here's the final product. The cord wrap was hardened with fiberglass resin and the blade darkened with ferric chloride. i made the kyd...

I always have my doors locked, from the front doors to my bedroom. still, i have a bump in the night bag. Okay, I'm sold. Picking up some kydex soon and giving it a shot. :D So is an oven one way to heat it? Also, if I want to prevent it from sticking to certain surfaces (I'm trying the first holster on an airsoft gun.) how might I go about doing that? yeah, i'm with doc on this. The ATF is pretty damn clear in their definition. i mean, so long as length and configuration are fine it doesn't matter how you hold the damn thing. seen plenty of folks firing ar pistols with the buffer tube to the shoulder. If you manage to draw the attention of an LEO...

Re: bag for GHB / EDC
i don't think you can go wrong with the rush 12. I've got the 72 as my BOB and the 24 as my EDC. The 24 carries everything i need and still leaves plenty of space. Had both packs for years and no issues, tears or holes. Depending on what you intend to pack, the 12 could be perfect.

^what pistolpete said. just having the right components in your possession can land you in hot water without the proper paperwork. If anything put that money towards other parts of the build until you're 21. grab some mags, ammo, a cleaning kit; all of which you will be able to use, no matter what c...

Re: Best things to stock up on for lighting?
like any other prep, you gotta divide into short term and long term and prepare accordingly. Batteries are best solution, portable, directional and won' burn the house down if you knock over the flashlight. CR123s supposedly have a 10 year shelf life, so you can stock up on those and keep em handy. ...
