That's pretty awesome, Thorian. If he was choking, how did you get the object out with finger sweeps? Wouldn't the heimlich maneuver have been a better choice, or is that what you meant by chest thrusts?

I've got my test tomorrow, I'm studying for it right now. Wish me luck!

bgaesop i was wondering how long it would take to become fully emt certified, i don't know much about it, and i don't know if i'd need all of it but i'm going into shop teaching so it'd be a great thing to have on my resume and to be able to deal with wounds. do you know what some one interested in...

Good news on the freebie front: I don't get freebies, but I do get "reduced price" stuff, so I'll be able to get a bunch of stuff for pretty cheap. :D

bgaesop, I applaud your efforts. Is this something you're doing for work, or just to get your foot in the door for a future job; or just looked interesting? Either way, you'll be glad you did this. I did it so that I will know how to take care of people in the PAW, of course. No, I didn't do ...

maybe wrong choice of words, but as far as I know it is only offered to fire/leo Well seeing as I'm taking it, that's obviously not the case. :) According to the teacher, it varies from district to district what training LEOs and Firefighters get, but First Responder is quite common, and it's rarel...

bgaesop, your instructor is an ignorant clown if he thinks EMT-Tactical is "basically first responder only not as in-depth"...........what an oaf. I could have been misremembering, I'll ask him about it next time. I'm not finding much information about it online, though. I've been planning to take ...

Yeah, they talked about EMT-T a bit. According to the teacher it's kind of bs to call it EMT, because it's basically First Responder only not as in depth and focuses more on combat situations. So, while good for some things, not what you need to just take care of people who get hurt hiking, which is...

I have a 16 dex and 5 ranks in Hide and Move Silently, so that combined with some miscellaneous size, equipment, and feats, I think I can get past most folk's Spot and Listen checks.

Went shooting for the first time a few weeks ago. I don't recall what exactly I shot, but I know I fired a 22 quite a few times, a 9mm gun a few times, a 12 guage shotgun a few times, and an AK47 once or twice.

First Responder Courses

I am currently one session into a six session class which will get me my First Reponder license. For those not in the know, according to the teacher, it goes CPR, First Aid, First Responder, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P. Going from First Aid to First Responder is the highest jump until EMT-P. I'll count as t...

Does anyone recognize these pictures of Katrina survivors?

Someone recently posted these on another forum, and I think I recognize them as pics of someone on here and his friends. Am I remembering right or is that just me being nuts? If I recall correctly this is someone and his friends who got together during Katrina and kind of patrolled the neighborhood ...

Hey, BG. I mentioned Kudzu earlier. I think that's the vine that growing on the bamboo in the picture. So there! Not sure how I missed that page, sorry. But yeah, Kudzu is nasty stuff. I'm surprised it hasn't taken over your backyard yet, if that's what it is. You live in Florida, don't you, Bear? ...

I just discovered something that can kill it!

The only problem is, the cure is worse than the ailment.
