I picked up something similar a few days ago, a Webley MarkIV .38 s&w. Dies are easy enough to find but can't find and brass or ammo anywhere! So in the meantime could I just trim down some .38 spl brass instead?
Wow now that looks like a fun gun to bring down to the range! Can the S&W 500 be down loaded into fun plinking rounds like the 44 mag? From what I've gathered as far as Alaskan snubbies go, recoil on the 454 Casull is quite brutal, the 480 not so bad, what's the 500 like?
Honestly I wasn't too familiar with .454, I bought my first gun about 2 mos. ago, a GP100 357 mag and when I decided to go bigger, 44 mag seemed like the next logical step to me (I watched too many Dirty Harry movies growing up  ) Didn't realize how scarce and expensive factory 44 ammo was but...

Weighs like one too! But the weight plus the stock hogue tamer grips makes it surprisingly easy to shoot for a snubbie. I picked it up at my local gun shop for $739 NIB.
Finally managed to pick one up recently, here's some pics with a fresh box of .44 spcl reloads  http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4crfm/alaskan1.jpg http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4crfm/alaskan2.jpg http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4crfm/alaskan3.jpg http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4crfm/alaskan4.jpg htt...
While researching .357 snub nose revolvers, I was shocked to find out they actually make .44 magnum snubbys as well  Has anyone ever shot one of these, in particular a Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan 44 magnum 2.5" revolver? Are they at all practical outside of grizzly bear country or any fun to ...
I decided I want to get into reloading before I drop too much coin on factory ammo, already have the Lee Anniversary press kit on order and should be arriving any day now and I'm just about done reading through the ABC's of Reloading. The local range I'm a member of also carries reloading components...
I currently have only 1 gun so far for home defense, a Ruger GP100 4" .357 mag revolver. I've been thinking about picking up a backup gun but I can't decide if I should get another revolver and continue stockpiling just .38s & .357 ammo or should I get a semiautomatic pistol since 9mm ammo is so com...
