Re: Free-float forend interchangeability

Most higher-end tubes use proprietary barrel nuts (BCM, Noveske, Geiselle, MI) A few mid level companies make their tubes to work with the stock barrel nuts like Troy, this is said to decrease the stability of the platform, but they generally receive positive reviews as long as you can torque and lo...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

i bought a stripped lower to start a build but I'm not sure what route I want to take. I've been reading up online and have noticed some guys have (I believe) purchased the lower as "other" on their 4473 (or have had their lowers marked as other?) if they plan on making it into a pistol. I'm not exa...

Re: Federal Nickel plated cases problems

This is a photo of one of the Hydras that are damaged. The HST's look exactly the same http://i67.tinypic.com/29bnac7.jpg I just assumed that they got damaged because they were light-for-load (155gr if I remember correctly, might of been even lower) but the HSTs (180gr) look the same after a month. ...

Federal Nickel plated cases problems

when I first purchased my pistol I carried HydraShok for the first couple of months before switching to Hornaday Critical duty. I tossed the rounds because they warped around the bullet, the nickel cases looked crushed. I switched to HST's a month ago and I've noticed the same problem. Is it just fe...

Re: Sighting in a .308 rifle...

Rear MBUS only adjust for windage, not elevation. And I'll second that they are only useful as back ups for a primary optic. The two that I got, the front sight can be adjusted up and down for elevation, and the rear sight can be adjusted left to right. I agree than an optic would be much, much bet...

Re: Has anyone ever heard of the Snow Lizard phone cases?

Looks heavy, awkward to hold, and the solar panel wouldn't be especially useful. For one thing, how often do you leave your phone out in the sun? Most people keep theirs in their pocket, or in their hand. I suspect that this is trying to do too much, and therefore won't do it well. Leaving your pho...

Re: Sighting in a .308 rifle...

Rear MBUS only adjust for windage, not elevation. And I'll second that they are only useful as back ups for a primary optic. That really depends upon the kind you have. Some adjust for elevation, some for range as well as windage. I prefer the type that adjust for range myself. I was taking in rega...

Does anybody wash their fighting gear In a washing machine? I sweat pretty heavily while drilling out here in 110 degree temps, and I've slowly stained it white.

I've seen people re-blue, but paint works fine. I rattle canned my rifles barrel a tan color and it doesn't wear at all except near the birdcage

Re: Tactical Nylon/Gear Chat

I was pretty excited about the t3 reload hydro carrier going on sale locally, but it doesn't integrate into my MAV perfectly, so I'll probably end up moving it to a plate carrier once I get one. It works it just sits a bit lower than I'd like. And now my fighting gear is about three different colors...

Re: Aftermarket M&P slide release

Well, proper tactics aside, the m&p slide release has always been pronounced enough for me to release while wearing gloves. I never really train wearing gloves with pistols, but that's because my fighting loadout only gets worn for rifle training or, god forbid, actual rifle fighting. Here's an exam...

Re: Aftermarket M&P slide release

or you can release the slide with your hand, you know, properly? That was kind of where my mind was. A smaller slide release is an advantage for the M&P and I like it where it is. But good luck in finding one! I understand why the OP would want one. Using a slide release on a pistol is faster than ...

Older modeled m&p have the slightly flatter slide release. You might want to look in to a newer, more pronounced sr from the s&w factory...
