Re: Emergency Blankets vs Thermal Cameras

Guess we were ahead of our time back in 68 cause back in the Nam the 101st made us dig in every night no matter how tired we were , how many clicks we made that day or anything else . By the end of the tour you could dig a decent size hole in any soil in about 10 minutes .

Re: Making useful objects from local clay .

Note the bottom of one is pinkish red (weird )which is the color of the fired piece without glaze . Also note the crack in...

I had no idea this could be done without specialized materials. Thanks Yeah the books tell you to dry it and powder it and seive it ...

Re: Making useful objects from local clay .

Yeah I lucked out on that one . Not too many old retired farmers looking for a kiln that day  . I try to run mine at night since I have an off peak meter that reduces my kwh to approximately 1/4 of "on peak" and it can spin the ole meter brother . I've got mine wired up out in the barn .

Re: Making useful objects from local clay .

I bought an art school kiln at auction for about 30 bucks , but I also have a gas fired foundry/kiln that I've used for the clay before . It's interesting because the electric kiln fires this particular clay almost a pinkish orange while the gas fires it a smoky tan color that is almost cool enough ...
