Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Was out at Randolph AFB picking up some extra magazines for my wife’s handgun class tomorrow (got her a couple hours private instruction at our local range for Christmas), and saw one of the SPs hanging out at the gun counter handling one of these monstrosities : https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i...

Re: What ammo to choose while in Svalbard?

The ones you rent I understand are .30-06 but if you follow all their rules you can BYOG so long as it is a similar power level. The TV series Fortitude is based loosely on Svalbard. Early in the show the local sheriff takes a handgun away from a tourist and makes him carry a rifle. My kind of place...

Re: New AR Optic

Under $500, small, with magnification is currently a unicorn. That is why I was asking. I'll probably just stick a Romeo 5 on there that is currently unemployed.

I powered thru season 2 over the weekend. Seemed like you had to wait until the last 30 seconds of the last episode for things to get Punisher-esque.
I watched several. Seemed the punisher ended every other episode on his knees.

I can't use a FTS magnifier on this application. Has to be as specified. Can't seem to locate one so maybe they don't make one.

Re: Iranian forces fire Missile at Israeli-Occupied Golan Heights

Those nations are already in a near perpetual state of war as it is. So not much change really. Consider this a full blown missile test of both the IA ADA system and the Iranian missile system. It was of course a dry run for the holy grail of nuking Israel. If that ever happens I think we will find ...

Re: Netflix Punisher Series; You've already met him!

Season 2 is out. I am ashamed to admit it but it is starting to grow on me, Season 2 is anyway. Castle is less killy, more interesting and less frazzled. A doomed love interest is introduced. I am already wondering what terrible things will be done to her before she is killed off. Just cue off the m...

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum trailer

Irony is killing 50 people over a dog and a stolen car, or in this case pretending to do so. Some people have trouble separating a screen from real life and will think it is an awesome idea. Ah. I thought that was filed under "overreaction?" I have not read a dictionary lately. ;) Maybe "overkill?"...

New AR Optic

I need a new Optic for my AR. I don't know what is new out there. I'd need something small that does not go much above the normal FSP blade height. It needs to be no longer than a short EO Tech. I'd like it to have some magnification 2-3X, although I can live without it. Needs to be under $500.

Io

The Earth's atmosphere has become toxic and all the animals are dead or in a clean oxygen zone. The human race has escaped to an energy farm in orbit around Io. Guess Mars was too much work. Sam is the LWOE trying to find a fix. I lifted this off of IMDB It's like listening to your girlfriend tell y...

Re: Religious & Ethinc Groups Take CERT to New Level

I agree. What I have tabled is not about any one particular group (I am certain they all have baggage) but about the merit of faith and ethnic based community patrols. Personally, no matter what the faith or ethnicity of the group these things inevitably turn bad and have abuses. Maybe not Shia vs S...

Re: Six String Samurai

But how is it? Based on the recipe alone it sounds awesome! I am going to say it is an acquired taste. It is a little psychedelic, not 60s but more like 90s posing as 60s in an intentional way. I think this is one of those you will either love or hate. IMDB has it rated 6.8 and I think that is pret...

Re: Religious & Ethinc Groups Take CERT to New Level

If the Jews are allowed their own private patrols why not the Muslims? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shomrim_(neighborhood_watch_group) I see this as reducing faith and trust in the State - people shifting their primary loyalty. Some Shomrim members in the United States have been convicted of assau...

A good way of viewing it and putting it into perspective is religious healthcare institutions and services that are open to all.
This has had a bit of a spotty record in the past.

Would one turn in the criminal to the real cops if the crime is acceptable in the ethnic background?
Not if LA is any guide.

Religious & Ethinc Groups Take CERT to New Level

Wasn't sure what to make of all this. Trying to picture a Christian Community Patrol group wandering the streets trying to look like the local police without push back and was having trouble picturing that. Those issues aside maybe some New Yorkers could weigh in on this. https://nypost.com/2018/12/...

Re: SHTF and you can only have one gun

Well, to be honest, I hate the 9x19mm and the jam prone AR15/M16 (the U.S. military claims to have fixed the jam issues with every iteration, yet at gen 4 it still is a jam prone rifle/carbine platform, and the M855.SS109 rounds punch a narrow, little, thru and thru .22 caliber hole that requires m...
