Re: Frankish Axe from Museum Replicas?

A few of the cabins that we over-night at have wood stoves, and I have found that processing wood of sufficient size to use with the stoves using just my knife is a bit of a pain, so I thought I would give a small/light hatchet a try. Thanks for the advise!

Re: Frankish Axe from Museum Replicas?

Should have mentioned that I do have an Eastwing Camp Axe for heavier duty stuff around camp, I was looking for something a bit smaller for carrying in the woods while hiking. I'll look into the ones you guys mentioned. After looking at amazon a bit, it seems like the sale price is actually more in ...

Frankish Axe from Museum Replicas?

So the Deal of the Day @ Museum Replica's is a Frankish Throwing Axe (Normally $45, on sale for $25). I'm in the market for a hatchet, and for $25 I'm thinking of rolling the dice (I'm guessing its going to need some sharpening, but I have the tools for that, and I like the look of this). 4 Any expe...

Lol I was teaching a friend archery the other day after giving him a Bow I made for his birthday... He was doing great, until about 10 minutes in.. right as I was asking "where are you aiming?" he let the arrow fly... His sister-in-law now has a new peep-Hole in her back door. Its great seeing all t...

Re: Weekend PVC Bow Project

I just did a weekend PVC Bow project myself, and decided to post here instead of making a whole new thread on it. Here is the bow after Tapering it, installing the end pieces and making all the bends. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Dexion1619/PVC%20Bows/IMG_0852_zps007bb6b4.jpg Then it was...

Re: Ruger released new guns for 2013.

The SR45 looks solid, I might look into one once its MA approved (The fact it uses 10 round mags standard is a huge plus here, and as I understand it, everyone should own a .45). That .22 Mag, LCR just has me going "Huh?!". Why is it not a 7-8 shot? I just cant believe that a cylinder designed for 5...

My vote goes to The Wilderness Safepacker: http://www.thewilderness.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=171&pg=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Looks like a gear pouch, isnt type specific, draws easily, can go on the waistbelt of your pack and quickly transfer to your belt when you get w...

Re: Doomsday Preppers

One thing I forgot about... Its likely the producers could have hatchet jobed the editing on any of these people, making them out to be much worse then they actualy would be in real life. If that is the case, I feel bad for them (for being taken advantage of). I guess im just not devious enough to t...

On the plus side, the Wise Food commercial was actually really well made, pointing out losing power for 7 days with kids would be a good reason to have some supplies on hand.

Portable Solar Generator

Hey everyone, I have been lurking lately, but not posting much. Well, turns out now I have something to post about! My father and I have decided to try our hand at a DIY project, the above mentioned Solar Generator. I have done some poking about on the site, and found some great examples. Before loo...

Re: Hurricane Sandy - the next "perfect storm"?

Checking in from western ma. A bit of panic buying going on, but not too bad. Home Depot had a run on generators early this AM, they sold something like 60 in less then a half hour as they were being unloaded off the truck. Over 100 people were in line. Local Best Buy has been selling batteries like...

My guess would be for use with all the pistol cal carbines on the market that use them. A 31/33 rd stick mag might be silly in a pistol, but it makes a lot of sense for a PCC.
