Re: MAC MOD2 TCCC IFAK 2 IS ONE AMAZON BUILD 2020
HAHA, sorry I've been absent, personal shit going on. Anyway thats a terrific comfort kit. Good call on a simple sheet of moleskin. There are kits with pre made stuff but they aren't cheap, just cut to size. Only thing I'd consider is some type of electrolyte powder - unless thats already carried el...

Some feedback, there's a lot I like, and a lot I would recommend improvement on. 1. The CAT Tourniquet in your photo is 100% a FAKE. I'm a NAR dealer, and can assure you, that you should not rely on that "tourniquet" as a life saving tool for yourself or a loved one. Please purchase your tourniquets...

Re: Any Newbies Here Because of Coronavirus?
Not a newbie, but I've gone dark on here for several years. An ever evolving career and a growing family will do that. Recent events (before COVID19) have rekindled our family's desire to expand our preps. We are focusing on obvious deficiencies at this time, and on establishing our homestead.

Re: What WILL you do with that stimulus check?
I'm married and we have a few kids so it'll be a decent check. We will be planting more fruit trees and another twenty or so Arizona Cyprus tress along the border of our homestead. This bill will further dilute the dollar, might as well turn the cash into something tangible before the rug gets pulle...

Re: VA recognizes Ketamine as emergency PTSD Treatment
Its a lower dose administered over time. No where near the 1-2MG/KG RSI induction dose. Yeah, that’s what I assumed. On a slightly unrelated note, Do AZ protocols have ketamine for use in excited delirium? I know that was a big deal out here in PA when they finally got that approved for the protoco...

I’m curious what the dose is for this but from the articles it sounds like it’s a slow IV drip.
Re: New IFAK
I have mixed feelings on Raptor Shears. I agree that they are really sturdy, but I view shears as disposable items. They only cost a few bucks, so whenever they get grossly contaminated or overly dulled, I toss them and grab a new pair.

I'll take it a step further. Hypothermia is part of the Trauma Lethal Triad (Acidosis, Coagulopathy and Hypothermia). Even in the blazing desert, we still keep our trauma patients warm in flight and on the ground.

Hey friends... I should probably spend more time on the forums, and plan to, especially in the First Aid section. I've finally got a credential, albeit a basic one. Passed my NREMT-B a couple weeks back and I'm looking forward to some fun interaction and learning some more from the actual medical p...

Re: Shotgun Scabbard
Cool project, well executed. Maybe run some rigid plastic down one side of it to make re-holstering easier (in my head this makes sense, prevents at least one side from rolling over on itself)? Before my GMC Jimmy exploded, I had a crappy Condor shotgun scabbard attached to the inside of the tail ga...

We use a Dakota Alert (with the range setting on "low") and have only had 3 false alarms in about 5 years time. Height is the same as yours. Spiders were the cause I think. I modified the Dakota Alert to also power a car horn (at the barn) when it detects motion, added that after responding to a fa...

Teotwaki, thanks for sharing. Not sure how I missed this one. Anyway, this is very interesting indeed! I'd like to see a repeat study performed using more modern hemostatic agents (Wound Stat is no longer CoTCCC Approved, which the paper did point out), but, I would imagine it may still yield simila...

This will be a very busy year indeed. Re: Food and Water estimates
I firmly believe in storing 2000-3000 calories a day and I store 2 quarts of water per day. Which is ridiculous. Is it though? I do the same with my food storage, and here's why. In a collapse event, or even a less catastrophic but still bad event like a bad storm, you will have varying caloric nee...

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Thread_Necromancy_3038.jpg I'm getting 2 55gal steel drums to use for fuel storage. Boskone, thanks for posting this and keeping this forum alive!
I have long been an LAPG fan, I've never once been disappointed by their products. The Operator Pants are one of the best tactical pants on the market.
Anyway, I'll order one for myself now that I've read this, thanks!!

I'll also add, if trained personnel are on scene, some type of diagnostic equipment. Even something as simple as a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter can be very beneficial.

I am currently in the planning stages right now, and none of these supplies have been purchased as of yet. Looking for a critique of the items chosen so far as well as pointing out of any weak spots in the load-out. The primary use of this kit would be for Industrial use, I spend most of my life on...

Re: Truck tool box security?
One thing you can consider is this.
I keep cheap crappy tools in my truck (Pittsburg from Harbor Freight). My nicer tools (Snap On and Craftsman stuff) stay in my workshop. If they break in and steal a tool box... it will hurt less.

Bay Leaves.
Apparently, bugs HATE these. Whenever we do buckets of... well... anything, I toss a few leaves in the buckets.
You can get these at Costco for dirt cheap in the McCormick bulk spice area.
Add to that freezing grains, and storing things properly and you will come out on top.

What a FASCINATING read. Seriously! Brings up some good points. I always try and be diligent of my preps, and I keep running spread sheets of everything with purchase and expiration dates listed. There are some good lessons here. None of that was probably that expensive (well. Except for that weird ...
