Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Spent a few hours scrounging the range. Got about fifteen pounds of range scrap to be melted and recast and this.

Re: GHB + Work Back Combo

I use a knockoff of a maxpedition versipack jumbo as my work/ghb. Of course I only live about a half an hour walking distance from work. I use a backpack like the one above for my motorcycle adventures and manage to fit everything I need in case of emergency in it.

Re: What is your faviorite Defensive Pistol Caliber

9mm is my daily carry. They're more than enough for any human threat.

If I'm going into the woods, I pack my .357 mag in case of big predators and a .22 in case I need to rustle up some grub.

Re: Reintroductions Are In Order. Hello From South Dakota

Welcome back, still in the tourist/hospitality industry? Unfortunately yes, for the time being at least. I'm still looking for ways to make money using my writing skills. Hopefully I'll have a couple more books out early next year. Welcome back! Nice as a newer member to get to know the older ones,...

Reintroductions Are In Order. Hello From South Dakota

Hello. I'm Silent Kube. I used to be a very active member here from South Dakota, but I drifted away for awhile. For various reasons, I've returned. I'm not sure if anyone remembers me, so I thought I'd reintroduce myself.

Welcome. I lived in Stockton for the first 30 years of my life until I finally bugged out to South Dakota and haven't looked back.

Re: Portable power solutions thread.

Thanks for this thread WW. Mother nature has been teasing us with spring up here so I've been prepping my gear and have been considering some way to charge my devices so I can access my survival library while I'm in the bush. The ol' memory isn't what it used to be. I've been looking at the allpower...

My Birthday Musket

Thanks guys. It doesn't have a flint. I'm going to pick a couple up at cabelas. I checked the barrel and even went so far as to run a camera down it. I don't think it's even been fired. The only place I've been able to find shot for it is track of the wolf. I'll probably get some just to have it but...

My Birthday Musket

So I got this for my birthday. It's an Ultra-hi smoothbore flintlock marked .67 cal that my mom got at auction. Other than that, I don't know anything about it other than finding shot for it isn't the easiest thing. I was wondering if any of you guys know more about it than I do. It appears to have ...

Those look great. I've been thinking about doing a similar hawk.

I know you've told me your wrap stabilization process before but I can't find it anywhere and my memory is shot. Do you always use marine epoxy? Do you just brush it on?

Not so much a post for a specific item but a tip for bargain hunters. I ran across this online and tried it. It really works.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

In preparation for the coming snowstorm/cold snap, my thoughts turned to the cats that live outside. There are several that come around and it's just not practical to bring them all in the house. Still, I didn't want them freezing to death. So with a little help from the internet, I built this. http...

Re: R U prepared fora 21-30 day quarantine/shelter-in-place?

The original scenario sounds almost like a vacation to me. (Except of course for the looming threat of death.) Even without power I'd be just fine. I have books (both reading and writing) to keep me busy. I have plenty of wood for the fireplace and I have a habit of hoarding blankets to keep warm if...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Nothing really for myself unless you count getting my house back in order after a couple hectic weeks. I did however help a friend online to plan his GH/BOB. He felt he needed something, especially since he could be up to 300 miles from home if the S were to HTF, but didn't know where to start.

I made this last night while at work out of an old windshield wiper motor and some other odds and ends. My girlfriend is a teacher and every year they do a haunted house for the kids. It's a self stirring cauldron. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q4jWf64XXk It will of course have dry ice in it when...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

It's going to sound like just a little thing but I restocked my emergency canned food stash at work way in the back of one of the file cabinets. It's to get me through getting stuck at work should we get a blizzard more than anything but it would certainly help me get home were the S to HTF. Also, a...

Re: Wild Edibles Identification Guide

Here's one I've had some limited experience with that I don't think has been covered. It's known as yellow salsify, goat's beard, and a bunch of other names I can't remember. It was apparently brought over as a food crop like dandelions. It actually resembles a giant dandelion, especially after it h...

Re: ZS Hot or Not: Firearms edition (PICS AND LINKS ONLY)

Got these two beauties for Christmas. It's nice when your mom has a friend who runs gun/antique auctions. They're in .45 and also came with a matching pistol as part of the set but my cousin got that. I already have a pistol in .50. I really need to go shoot them before the snow falls. The barrels a...

I just skimmed this thread but I didn't see it mentioned so forgive me if it has, but that rod in the bottom is a small ferro rod. Not sure how usable it is but I suppose it's worth a try if you've got nothing else.

I alternate between a kershaw freefall and swerve. Got them in a two pack at walmart. They aren't the assisted opening models but easy enough to open with the finger tab.
