Re: Revisiting the "Big One"

My recommendations would be to: -Determine your altitude to know if you are at risk from a tsunami after a quake. Recalling that there is certainly risk, the plate you are on is the one that should rise after a strike slip quake. -Securing the foundation is of course critical. However you must also ...

Here in the NW (Eastern Washington) the prices average between $3.99-$3.86 per gallon for gas and $4.01 to$4.15 for diesel
$3.99 was the norm until 'they' discovered California's prices were coming back down.

I'm a little late to the party here!! However, since I have 2 conditions which require ongoing medication and am looking for a couple of hints beyond my current regime. I thought this would be the place to start. 1. I have to take Thyroid T3 and T4 -- I have a back up of a year's supply and have fou...

Love my cast Iron and my Wagner ware: 6 skillets 2-6" the One egg special, 2-10" my favorites , 1-12" , 1-14" chicken fryer and 3 dutchies But, 2 things 1. I have to cast a vote for Le Creuset (sp?) I love it and with Wagner having become a rarity at real world prices, If I have to spend a pretty pe...

Re: More Iowa Flooding Causes Dam Failure

Thanks for the links. I've been trying to find more details of this event since it occured. I did not see any mention of the 9 miles of water backed up behind the dam nor any mention of its electrical generating capacity. Any one else have any details on the overall or long term affects of this event?

Another good reason to watch the Farm News. This problem is so not new, still it should scare the pants off anyone eating bread/pasta ... or drinking beer. To Date NO variety of wheat in the world has been found capable of withstanding UG-99. Another interesting sign of how serious this is being tak...

You should go talk to the mortgage holder. Bring proof of payment of timely rent payment and ask if you can continue renting the place. There are new federal laws that give tenants who are not in default of their lease additional rights. You need to communicate with the lender to enforce those righ...

Re: Random encouter with domestic intruder

Just a couple of thoughts: How about putting a little "Shop Bell" on the doors and gates -- they don't have to be big loud things, just a little sound you would recognize as implying someone opened a gate or door. the same idea would apply if you put a very fine wire/cord (Trip Wire) a half hand spa...

Re: Business travel to the UK: What do I need?

You might want to include some N-95 or N-100 vented masks -- just in case the Icelandic volcano goes off again. Along the same lines, you might want to make sure you can stay with someone from work IF your flight is canceled otherwise an extended stay could get VERY Pricey.

Just my 2 cents.

It sounds like you are working with the wrong parent. Your Mom TRIED, instead of blowing off her attempt as a failure because she used the wrong containers -- bring her some of the right kind the next time you go over. If she gardens then a rain barrel could be a good idea or a set of Heirloom seeds...

Didn't see that anyone had listed this as an option http://www.craigslist.com The real estate for sale section is fairly good and reasonably current.
