Re: Gear Planning for the 14 peaks
It's only 3000 ft  Travel as fast as you can in the cool parts of the day, don't kill yourself in the heat. Where I lived in Wales it was humid as hell from the coast, not sure how it is at the hike location. My gut says you're going to be hurting after half. Bring some real food too. You wil...

Re: Re-Cleaning water storage containers?
To me, my time, energy, cleaning supplies and.... time, are better spent making money/saving money somewhere else that small container cleaning. Grab an extra cheapo gallon of h2o every time your at the store, trust it to last indefinitely, store in dark place, party on. The time and supplies to cle...

What will the temps be like?
Are you planning on hiking 24hrs (or whatever is needed) straight? Or only hiking in daylight/sleeping at night?

I used the 1603 and cut it down to the 1606 size (I assume that may have been what people did originally) ...Just have to sand the edges good... Sabre saw cuts it well. I think any Alice can be adapted to any frame, I cut the top pad thingy off of a large and left only enough to make "tabs" which a ...

No wood I have ever split did so with that ease... And I don't mean just the split itself, but the fibers farther down the log not sticking together or the other end not sticking together... Which makes me think that was some kind of super soft/super straight grained easy-split wood... Which makes m...

So, this is not really a heat treating or knife making question per-se (and since I have not taken the time yet to get a membership in Bladeforums) I must pick the ZS hive mind, well at least that of our resident knife makers and tinkerers. * glances over at Stormcrow, Maine1 and SteveCA * :mrgreen...

Possibly WORK gloves, if there is a chance you may be helping set up targets/props... If you are supposed to shoot hundreds of rounds, a loader would be nice, thumbs get sore if your not used to loading that many mags in a day.

Re: I love IDPA (vid)
It is a game/sport, but in the game you train to reload on the move, follow safety protocols, move and shoot, draw and shoot, one handed shooting, etc. A lot of things that would count as "training". So in the same way street racing is not evasive driving class, if someone started chasing you in a c...

The range is in the middle of an eastern Largo fl. industrial area, so the bunker keeps all rounds inside the grounds... Its basically a long row of concrete roofed, open-ended bays, with heavy timbers/tires/earth dividing them & as a back wall. The rangs is a 180* range, as almost all IDPA is goin...

Re: Hello from the Sunshine State.
Thank you all. I indeed read that article actually last night. I got the H&R Pardner because it is a clone of the Remington 870 and parts like the forend and stock interchange. I shoot mostly 00 Buck and Rifled Slugs out of it. To me, however, it seems equal if not better to my friends Remington 87...

Welcome from a fellow Floridite! Im just a few miles west of you in the Valrico/Brandon area. There is a great shotgun thread in the firearms section that delves into the best uses and setups of the weapon for defense... I will try to find it. edit: great thread for the shotgunner- https://www.zombi...
