BooK was great again, Raptorman. Thanks for continuing to put out good reads. Can't wait for the next one!

Yes, I am left eye dominant. Inexpensive to me is no more than 800, preferably around 4-500, though I'm certain I won't be that lucky.

Ambidextrous (or left handed) inexpensive semi auto?

Hi, all. Been a while. I don't know a whole lot about rifles, but I want to learn. I would like to get a good, solid, inexpensive rifle to learn with. I know that learning on a .22lr would be smart, but I don't want the only rifle I have to be a less than effective defensive round. As an added compl...

Re: Unbroken

Finally did read this several months ago, and never got back in here to say how great it was. Better than I thought it would be, and as you can see above, I thought it'd be really friggin' good. On the plus side, I heard recently that they are indeed going forward with making a movie based on it. Ap...

He was in the special Zombies: A Living History, which also included ZS. He was shown demonstrating a few skills, and discussing his fears about what the ZPAW would actually entail.

Re: Buck 110: are the new ones good?

There are hundreds of articles out there from over the years written about S30V, and frankly I haven't read a bad one yet. Many of the top blade manufacturers have knives made from S30V including Benchmade, Spyderco, Buck, Kershaw, and many others.

Re: Buck 110: are the new ones good?

If you like the Buck 110 style, it still holds up as a good knife. A lot of people still like the 420HC they use, which is heat treated very well. BUT, if you want a little higher performance (and of course, a higher price to accompany it), Cabela's has their Alaskan Guide 110, featuring S30V steel....

Re: Dead City by Joe McKinney

I've read all three in the order I found them (AOD, DC, and FE), and I have to say that the newer, the better. I thought Apocalypse was better than Dead City, and Flesh Eaters was better still. Hope to see more soon.

Re: So many packs...and so few backs...

I have that SAK pack, too. I like it a lot, but for my uses it's a little smaller than I'd like, but that just makes me evaluate my gear more to see what's actually necessary and what I just *want.*

Re: EDC Bags Vs. GHB

On the subject of acronyms, I feel the need to quote George Carlin.

"An acronym is not just any set of initials. It applies only to those initials that can be pronounced as words. MADD, DARE, NATO, UNICEF; those are acronyms. FBI, CIA, and KGB are not. They're just pricks."

The first gun I ever fired was an XD9, and I liked it a lot. Whenever I can finally get a gun to own for myself, it'll be either an XD or an XDM.

Re: Automatic opening knife advice

For an actual automatic, it depends entirely on where you are. Make sure they are legal in the area you live in, 'cause autos typically aren't unless you're police or military. For a good quality tanto blade, though, you'd better be ready to pay over $100, 'cause there are few good ones under that p...

Re: Watching walking dead, should I read the comics now?

Get the Walking Dead compendium, around $40 online. It's the most cost-effective way to buy into the comics and as others have stated, the story lines have diverged in several key places. I've read the compendium and when I tune into the series I have absolutely no clue what is going to happen. I'm...

It is pretty, and frankly, there's nothing wrong with having a nice display piece, as long as it's only for display. If you have the money to spend, get yourself some 3 dimensional art, and enjoy it for what it is. Some people have pictures, some have statues, some have battle ready historical blade...

Plus 100. I haven't read it yet, but I've heard some of the stuff that took place, and it's an amazing story. The book was written by the woman who wrote Seabiscuit, so expect a movie to be made eventually. I also heard a radio interview with Louis, who talked about the book and several of the stori...

It says made in Pakistan on the box. I retract my previous statement. The old Marbles that I was familiar with were made in the USA. I make no promises on ANYTHING made in Pakistan. I am not one of those guys who only buys Made in the USA (though of course I prefer American made), because it's just...

I remember reading about these when they first came out. The late Chuck Karwan, who I respected a great deal, liked 'em. Way out of my price range, but I'm glad somebody gets to enjoy one.

Re: Marble's?

You didn't get taken. Marble's, though not as popular, are solid knives. The original k-bars from WWII were basically a rip-off of the Marble's Ideal, but with a longer blade, sharpened false edge, etc. Last time I checked (though I admit it's been a while), standard Marble's blades were made from 5...

Re: Discount Cutlery

Never heard of 'em before, but looking through their site, they don't offer much of a "discount". The SOG Trident that I can get for $60 at Dick's Sporting Goods or $50 at Walmart goes for $72 through them. I'm not saying I expect them to lowball everybody's price on every item, but several items I'...
