As usual: in. Posting merely for attendance note.

Does anyone in our chapter even read the forums for events? I don't really hear anyone talk about the forums much except in past-tense. I only knew of this thread because of the link on the Facebooks :D

Re: Smith & Wesson Sales up 48% From Q4 2011

Didn't Ruger have to suspend taking new orders for the second quarter of this year, because of they were inundated with orders last January and February..... They were not taking new orders on 10/22s, they announced, early this spring, if memory serves me. It caused many people I know to immediatel...

Re: shortening shotgun barrel question

i use it for hunting . the barrel is very constrictive as to how i can manuver when i get into more brushy areas. also as a hd shotgun Birds? Deer? Rifled or smooth bore? By cutting the barrel down, you're going to lose your ability to use chokes, unless you have someone competent rethread the barr...

Re: Smith & Wesson Sales up 48% From Q4 2011

I think this has more to do with the Shield and Avengers, than Mayans. Its funny, no gun store in my area has one the shelves for people to even look at. One store I go at least has the blue "holster mold" to fondle. I can't believe how many people have bought/pre-ordered that gun, sight unseen. Ev...

Re: A case for the S2k (and other PCC's in general)

I gel tested a 22LR vs a 9mm FMJ and they are virtually the same. Yea? What was the expanded projectile diameter of .22lr, and penetration? What was the expanded bullet diameter and penetration of 9mm? What were the results? Yea. The FMJ 22 didn't expand as much as it tumbled/mushroomed. Penetratio...

Re: A case for the S2k (and other PCC's in general)

You're going to have the old/disabled pulling tiggers, really? My daughter is 8 but started shooting around 7. She's fine with a 22, if we're going to take this arguement to ad nauseum, a 22 LR is a better choice because it's even lighter, and cheaper. I take issue with that. Yes, I would. Hopefull...

Re: Red Jacket vs High Tower Armory Bullpup Stock (.22)

This was kind of surprising... Beat the heck out of it, ran a truck over it. It's an impressive /looking/ test for one half of the shell. I mostly post this because in the vid there are some really good detailed closer looks at the interior of the shell, and this one is the final product, not the pr...

Exactly my point. Most people don't realize it that are on the civilian sector how far a mile really is, let alone what could go wrong, what has to be taken into account for. But of course the experts like to come off COD and play on ZS. ;) How about you drop the condescension bullshit about "civil...

Re: Ruger 10/22 breakdown?

I've shot 10/22's most of my life and this forum is the first I have ever seen any mention of any issues, I also don't see anything wrong with any of the rifles I've owned or shot both old and new. Of course I also don't shoot garbage ammunition like CCI Stingers, those things can wreck a good gun ...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

How do you use a $0.50 flashlight from Lowes which is handheld, while trying to use a carbine which really should have both hands on it? Just because you can do some trig and figure out some CivEngineer junk doesn't mean anything at all applies to terminal ballistics. Just assume you know nothing an...

Re: Usfa zipgun :-)

Interesting product, but massive marketing fail. "Zip" doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the engineering or quality of the product, and I think they hired my nine year old as a consultant on their video. I don't really get why it would be useful to have a .22 mounted under a rifle. I mean, I gu...

Re: AR pistol lower from a currently-owned stripped lower?

I think my highspeed LGS screwed me - mine is listed as a "Pistol", they wouldn't transfer it as "other" as it wasn't an option on the form at the time - it was either Rifle or Pistol. They specifically asked me about it, because if it was sold as a "pistol" it was subject to the mandatory wait for...

To be on the safe side, if it's a receiver that has never been built as a rifle, yes you can built it into a pistol. A receiver can not be registered as a pistol unless its in a pistol configuration. A receiver is a receiver until it is a rifle or a pistol. Hope that helps. Thanks! These are virgin...

Re: AR pistol lower from a currently-owned stripped lower?

I absolutely empathize with anyone who makes a move to be "extra safe" in the eyes of the ATF. Inspections suck. Sometimes they do it to cover their ass, even if it's inconvenient for customers. It sucks but I can't say I don't understand. Some just don't know... some are just tired of all the chang...

Re: AR pistol lower from a currently-owned stripped lower?

The 4473 form is the final word. If it says Pistol, then the receiver has to stay a pistol. If it says Rifle, it has to stay a rifle. If it says other, then there is a lot of grey area and JTNieman covered that already. Check your 4473 and I would be very surprised if it does NOT say rifle on it. M...

Re: AR pistol lower from a currently-owned stripped lower?

As I understand it (and maybe to sum up the above in uber-simple terms), once it goes rifle, it's a rifle for ever and evar. If it starts pistol, goes rifle, it can't go back to pistol. If it starts rifle, 'tis always a rifle. Unless the 4473 or whatever says otherwise. Sound about right? No, it's ...

Depends. What did the 4473 and NICS checkc say? If it was "pistol" or "other" you're good, if it was "rifle" then you might as well leave it stripped and start filling out the form 1. ~sent via spacearmadillogram~ Will have to check...
