Re: Modern MP40 semi auto

The guys who say "Get a High Point" or whatever don't understand the appeal of this gun. It's a plinker designed to look like a MP 40 for those of us who can't afford the real deal SMG. And yes, the manufacturer plans to release a folding stock for those who do the ATF paperwork for a SBR. I have a...

Re: NRA Gun Clubs

The NRA offers clubs benefits if they are "100% NRA member clubs." These benefits include assistance planning new ranges and evaluating existing ranges to conform with best industry practices, the ability to apply for grants for various range improvements and events, and, I believe, insurance for th...

A Handgun Drill to "Fix your Flinch"

I wrote a post with a handgun drill I use and recommend for my students to fix their issues with flinch and shots that go left or low left.

Re: New pistol from Springfield

About the pistol, I tried it at the writer event where they released it. We fired about a dozen different early production (not proto's) guns running through scenarios, in informal competition, and just plinking. I later got a T&E loaner for a magazine review. Here's the online version of the review...

Springfield Armory SAINT revealed (It's an AR)

I was at the media event for the Springfield Armory SAINT in Vegas a couple weeks ago. It's an AR, priced at the $899 level, with what I think is a decent feature set and build for the cash. Here's my first brief write-up with the features outlined and a couple photos. I'll have a more hands-on repo...

Re: Ammo, lead & pregnancy

Lead exposure is a very real risk that is under appreciated by shooters. Unfortunately, not only are most shooters very ignorant of the real health dangers, most physicians are ill-informed on the subject as well. I'm an instructor and gunwriter and, since I spend a lot of time actively shooting or ...

Re: Favorite type of recreational shooting?

Shooting the Schmoozi is probably still #1 right now (Search under my user name).

Mad Mike's flamethrower is pretty high on the list.

After that, I'd say probably shooting steel or bowling pins with handguns.

Re: Photos of my new Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 T sniper rifle

Nice piece of machinery you have there. My dad was in the navy in san diego in 1960. There was an aussie navy guy in port that was looking to sell a .303, and my dad picked it up for $15. They were everywhere and nobody wanted it. It's nothing like yours of course. It's been bubba'd. But I'm still ...

Re: Photos of my new Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 T sniper rifle

oh...wow you'll get a lot of life out of the old .303 rifles, have fun with it as you've snagged a beauty. might I ask how much you got it for? Think of it as about as much as a custom 1911 and you'll be in the ballpark. The market value is about that of a Wilson Combat Supergrade, but I get a bit ...

How's she shoot? Or is this just a collector piece?
Just got it, haven't shot it yet. It is a collector's piece so it won't be shot a lot, but I will shoot it some.

Photos of my new Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 T sniper rifle

I lucked into a good deal on a Enfield No. 4 Mk 1 T sniper rifle. This was one of my "Grail guns" that I thought I'd never own due to rarity and cost. I got a "friend of a friend" deal a bit below market value. Just enough of a discount that I was able to swing it. The seller lived only 10 minutes a...

Re: Finally picked up a Handgun (Taurus PT709)

I hate to say it but you might want to ditch that Taurus and go with another brand. I'm not trying to be a "gun snob" but Taurus pistols are known for poor QC and poor customer service getting problems fixed. To give you an idea they recently had a recall of 100,00 or so pistols, in several differen...

Re: When Are Firearms Too Old to Shoot Safely?

You are looking at it wrong. It's not age, it's condition (as has been said). When you are talking about really old smokeless powder firearms you do need to look at manufacturing elements. For instance, the first Smith & Wesson Military & Police (Hand Ejector) revolvers had cylinders that were NOT h...

Re: Handgun Condition while concealed

Just for the record, the consenus among firearms instructors is to carry with a round chambered. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages. As to whether any manual safeties should be "Safe" or "Fire" for DA autos that is more personal preference. You can make reasonable arguments either way. (Excep...

Big fan of MHI. I need to re read the series just for kicks. Sent from my KFTHWI using Tapatalk John Ringo is writing two or three novels set in the MHI universe. They take place in the 80's and feature a hunter in New Orleans. He's not a character we know because he's fated to die in the Christmas...
