Re: World War Flea - the Flea Apocolpsye in Real time

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4808790/ Looks like different types of poisons work better on different types of fleas. My family must have gotten lucky in picking the right poison to wipe out the specific type of fleas we had. We've never had much trouble wiping them out with retail fo...

I noticed the article also said he packed in half a pallet of canned food to start with. So he had a heck of a stash to start with.

Re: Modular home on plot of land

I am seeing exactly the same thing around here. Our county basically has zero unemployment. Last spring I tried hiring an English major in a college town for a full time job with benefits and typically 12% match for retirement (employee owned company). I gave up. Three placement agencies and postin...

Re: The Coming Civil War

I am seriously considering moving armor up to the top of my wish list. I try real hard not to make sizable impulse purchases though, so I'm going to consider it for a few weeks. Plates and a plate carrier are pretty handy to have and not too hard to buy at the moment. I have a Shellback Tactical Ba...

Re: Modular home on plot of land

Building a home in a rural area seems easy. Unless you are doing the work yourself you have to find trades people who will be willing to drive a ~2 hour commute or find a local who can do the work. Then there is the issue of getting power run to the site getting the roadway bulldozed and the site p...

Re: What to do with 13 acres of land?

When the fracking first took off, you could have hauled in old used RV trailers and rented them to the roughnecks for ridiculous amounts of money. It may still be worth looking into what rents are going for and what it would cost to run utilities onto the property. A few coworkers and I seriously co...

Re: What if you was at a family get together, hour in you see chaos take place.

None of us would believe they were real zombies till it was too late. We'd be massacred. Now, if we could somehow tweak the scenario to magically bypass the fatal period of disbelief, the massacre would be in reverse. It would take an incredible number of zombies to overrun my extended family. Espec...

I am highly suspect of the researcher's sample. I also suspect that there is a closer tie between prepping and the economy than prepping and who is in political office.

So where are we at on prepping for this? With the current political climate and the in general lack of respect of law and. Sane behavior by segments of population . I'm feeling rather anxious ( haha or maybe its the fact my phone is exploding with storm alerts as I type this ). What other than norm...

Re: Gold hits multi-year highs

In general I agree that precious metals is a good part of diversifying investments. Another way to look at it is that we're at or near a good time in the market cycle to sell gold while it's near peak price and be ready to invest back in stocks when they crash. I wouldn't argue definitively one way ...

Re: I Had to Tell Them To "Get Out Now"

You've got a good point about a small tent. I have stuff in the car for sitting on the ground, so I don't feel a need to keep it in my bag. I can also see the value in a good sleeping bag, especially in the winter. There are multiple scenarios it might be worth napping in my car. It's also far less ...

I'm glad you are doing all right tac. I refuse to ride a bicycle on a public road for that very reason. These days you would be lucky if they even stopped to render aid. With all the illegals in the country with no driver's license and insurance (and often intoxicated behind the wheel) they run off...

Re: WWYD if being stalked?

I don't have kids, so I don't think I'd bother doing much different. I had enough people go after me when I was young and stupid that it doesn't seem that unusual to me in theory. Now, that was a long time ago and my brain and emotional states have evolved enough that I might be surprised at my own ...

Re: I Had to Tell Them To "Get Out Now"

I wanted to bump this up to highlight the need for a good bugout bag. I got a rare opportunity to spend a whole week with one of my little brothers recently. He told me about taking in a friends family that evacuated for a hurricane. They showed up with nothing. Not even toothbrushes or a change of ...

Re: The Official ZS DEBTSQUAD: BODY COUNT thread.

I did a quick google search cause it's been a while since I researched it, but on average across the US, garage sizes have significantly expanded in size the last few generations. The space per car has been very consistent over time, but the number of cars garages are built to hold has increased. So...

Re: Swiss town selling homes for one dollar

A hostel I stayed in Como Italy a few years ago was one of those deals. Don't know if it was a lease or purchase deal as both exist in Italy. The place was absolutely fanatastic to stay in, was dirt cheap, and right by the lake and the old inner town. I would love to run a place like it myself, but ...

Re: Flash mobs in Philly

Was there supposed to be a "what would you do" question in this? I'd most likely leave unless there was a strong reason to think I could make a difference. I don't think there's much many people can really do against a mob of 60 people looting a store. Even if it was my business and therefore my fam...

Re: The Coming Civil War

I’m wondering why it is that we haven’t heard about these arrests but the media is all over anything that has to do with antifa. It seems the narrative is being painted that the left is ultra violent, when their body count is at zero, and there aren’t enough of them being arrested and charged to ma...

Re: Rising Tensions in the Persian Gulf

I need to point out that the US is finally energy independent again. The price of oil is lower than it was in 2005 and there is a glut from sources like Russia. Closing the Straights of Hormuz will not collapse the world economy. It would hurt the Saudis, and Iran as well as others shipping out thr...

I do find it ironic that the Antifa would be against more civil rights and support guns for the police and military only. It's about as hypocritical as it gets. A small point perhaps, but worth mentioning as it has security implications: Do not conflate the far left in general with Antifa. While th...

Simultaneously with having trouble getting people to work is getting upper management to understand how abruptly housing prices have changed even in just the last five years. An experienced person that already owns a home in the area making $X can be making very good middle class wages while someone...

While I have a certain disdain for how most social media and streaming services are managing their content, I don't really have better answers myself. I don't think any of them really understood the social forces they were creating and magnifying. We don't have much precedent for this to draw from. ...

Back to the original post, yes I think violence is possible, and I think we've already seen some. I think that with the addition of current internet platforms, some conflict will be by more than extremists. I think fairly normal people can have a bad day and extremist moments. Tired and stressed peo...
