Re: P226 Gadsden

That pistol is hot. Do want. I'd rather have it in a 1911 but the Sig is nice.

Another history note, my maternal grandmother's family started out in the US at Norfolk, VA as a Hessian, from Prussia, pressed into British service.

Re: Pistol Scopes

I have a Weaver 2-7 pistol scope on my Nagant but not on a handgun. It's has a nice site picture and all but it isn't illuminated. The only lit-scopes I've seen that I can recall are NcStars and they aren't the greatest.

Re: I think i am starting a new hobby

Some newer loading manuals call for far different loads than the older ones, this may be for many different reasons. Powder companies do change their powders. the 4895 I use probably isn't the same 4895 that was first made. This is called progress and we love it. Another reason is that some people w...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?

Let's see,
High scope rings for the Weaver scope.
Red head scope with binoculars for the 597.
A rifle cleaning mat.
.22 bore snake.
Big buck hunter.
I feel like I'm missing something.

Re: Is this a worthwhile trade?

I would say "no". The M1 is a better investment.
Ruger P series has a hydraulic feel to them. He is going to want to fire this thing before trading as most people don't like the way they feel in battery. Ruger semi's do not hold value.
This is just my opinion.

I always thought the Johnson looked like a pregnant walrus. I have talked to people that used them and they agree that the problem is the small parts. I have heard a few complaints of the shot group opening up very quickly with any sort of sustained fire.

Re: Folding Stock M1 Garand

No it does not have the cleaning kit cut out. Really I think you should ask about x54r next time your in a gun shop. Like it was stated you can order it online and it is in the same range as (or cheaper) than 7.62x39. Yeah the biggest things around here I've seen are whitetail, coyotes and black bea...

Re: Folding Stock M1 Garand

7.62x54r is everywhere. Well it isn't sold in walmart but they sell it everywhere else. Bass Pro Cabela's every gun shop worth the name. It's also FAR cheaper than 30-06, even if you buy from ammo from CMP and reload that ammo your probably going to spend more money than if you used x54r. I made min...

Man did we go an entire week before we had a PSL post?

I've held one at the shop, I would have bought it but I didn't have the money, the fit an finish were about what you'd expect from a Romain made weapon. It really looks bad ass. That's all I have to say.

Re: Folding Stock M1 Garand

I'm got the scout mount and I have a synthetic stock on mine as well. I wanted it scoped with out drilling or losing the irons and I wanted to lighten it up (I bought the m1 plastic stock that midway carries). Right now with scope one it, it weighs as much as it did with just the wood. I can put it ...

Re: Looking for cheap SKS...

Cheapest I've seen lately is a yugo for 289 from J&G, they also have China made ones for over 300. I bought my first yugo in 2007 for $149 (cracked stock) and I already had an AK. I don't have that SKS anymore but still have the ak. I do have a Chinese SKS but it kinda sits in the safe.

Re: SOG has new import garand for $429...

We use 4895 in 25 and 30 aught six, 303, 8mm, 7mm, 22-250, 7.62x39 (I think), and a few other rifles. I wonder if it would do ok for a 45lc rifle... Probably not. I've used it to push the 30-06 really fast but not in my Garand (I had to bring this back to the Garand somehow). That's one thing I'd be...
