Re: When you see someone with 5.11 Gear or any brand Name Ge

The first day of BSR's security driving class was partially in a hotel for a lecture about threat detection/attack indicators. I went down the the free continental breakfast, and immediately started seeing guys in 5.11 stuff. I started taking mental note of them: "that guy's gonna be in my class, th...

Re: Carry 2 guns?

In the force on force class I took I drew into close contact, kept the gun too close to my ribs and had the sweatshirt I was wearing get caught in the action. This was followed by a double feed...not fun trying to lock, rip, rack rack rack, reload when a guy with a knife is chasing you. I carry a ru...

Re: Revolver as bug-out gun

Give me a double stack semi auto of reputable manufacture over a revolver for bug-out any day. Do some training, especially force on force and you will see why. The point of the revolver is its flexibility. It is generally a much better choice for hunting, or shooting at longer range, if in the app...

Re: Springfield XD9 vs. Ruger SR9c

Can you get spare parts for the SR9? One of the big issues I had with my XD (primarily why I sold it) was you couldn't get spare parts from Springfield. You could get some stuff, but no striker, trigger components etc. IIRC. You know, the important stuff. My buddy has an SR9 and the first thing he d...

I've had mine about a year, I carry it every day as a backup gun and sometimes as a primary. I haven't had any issues although I haven't dropped it in the mud then shot the hell out of it like my glocks yet...might have to do that next shooting session  . One thing I recommend especially if...

I keep loaded AK mags in web gear or in a cabela's ammo can or surplus 50 caliber ammo can. I keep almost all my mags loaded. Unloaded mags go on the shelf in my closet next to the gun safe.

Re: Top Ten ways not to Survive the Coming Collapse

IMHO, gold and silver are for stuff you have to buy after the SHTF. I have damn near a lifetime supply of ammo stored, but I can't store a tooth extraction or appendectomy, and I don't think the hospital will ever take a case of port 308 for either one. You can use gold and silver to buy stuff you f...

Re: To sell it all or not to sell it all? Time or re-arm myself?

I'd say keep what you have and start reloading, stock molds, metals, casings, powders and primers. Then you can use whichever gun you want in the ZPAW. Stock more for your primary weapons, probably your AR and favorite pistol, but keep stuff for the others just in case. Why not just stock ammo? I k...

Re: Some Questions About Traveling When SHTF

Get a concealable money belt and put a couple thousand in cash and a couple ounces of gold coins in it. That will help with acquiring supplies during your SHTF travels. A couple good articles from survivalblog: http://www.survivalblog.com/2007/11/preparedness_while_on_business.html http://www.surviv...

Re: To sell it all or not to sell it all? Time or re-arm myself?

For your "working guns," I would get the following (again, my opinion, YMMV and do your own research etc.) shotguns: (2) pump action mossberg 500's. I like the 500 better than the 870 for several reasons, location of safety, slide lock release button, how the elevator pops up and doesn't catch your ...

I vote to keep what you have. However, if you DO decide to make the change: Pistols: since you don't like glocks (what I consider the "gold standard" of handguns) I would say some type of sig. The new sig pro or whatever it's called with interchangeable everything. I would go with 9mm personally, yo...

Re: Awkard moments or negative responses while using your EDC!

Every time I go to a guy's "area" at work he says "what did I tell you about bringing a weapon down here" or something like that (jokingly) while pointing at my SOG multi-tool. Also, had a couple people call my 511 push pack a "man purse" (which it is).

I think I could sell everything except for my couple heirlooms and one set of defense and working guns. I have a backup in the same model of all my primary guns that I would be willing to sell if need be. However I consider a detachable box magazine fed centerfire semi-auto rifle (preferably in a ca...

Re: What is your current go-to defensive rifle?

I own both an AR-15 and AK-47, and I'm going to have to go with the AK for actual combat use. I'm basing this on the easy manual of arms for the AK-platform plus the incredible reliability factor! The AK is accurate enough within normal combat range and if you need to, you can beat the living feces...

I just wish I could find a Glock that fit comfortably. You will get used to it. I hated the feel of glock pistols, but your hand will mold to them. Also, I thought I would have problems with snap sight picture because of the different frame angle but it really isn't an issue. Also, have you seen th...

I always have my glock 19 with 15 rounds in the mag and a round in the chamber on me, even at home. If I don't have on something that allows for a holster (i.e. gym shorts) I keep a pistol within reach. A gun is worthless unless you have immediate access to it. Just think, if someone staged a home i...

IMHO, if you can't get every spare part for a firearm it isn't a viable survival gun. Try and order a striker or a trigger bar from SA. They won't let you do it. it happend to me , the pin misshaped and popped out lost its spring..... took all of 5 mins to come off the range find the pin hammer and ...
