putting together a Vehicle Accident Kit

I witnessed an accident Saturday night; a drunk lady pulled out of a country bar, almost smashed to bikers, gunned it, started swerving and rolled in less than 60 seconds. I put on my flashers, flagged other motorists of the wreck, and pulled over to park. My wife called 911, and we saw that the car...

Re: was thinking about brush guns and the gears started turn

I'm in Illinois. So no pistols with stocks. at all.... This Sig brace is not a stock, it should be fine even for us Illinoisans to attach to our pistols. Also, we can apply for SBR stamps now in IL, but still no suppressors or FA. You just need to first get your C&R license: http://illinoiscarry.co...

Re: Prep & Pantry app review (long, pics)

I initially tried to use it for EDC and other supplies, but it's cumbersome for that. If you like organizing yourself via tags and locations then it could work fine for those things. Ultimately I discovered that I just didn't want gear in this app, it just bugged me. What didn't you like about it f...

Re: Recommendations for Battery/Prioritization

I would start with a pistol:
$600 pistol (Glock 19, XD, M&P, SR9C, CZ)

Then get some training and practice on it.

Then get the rest as it becomes feasible:
$200 .22 rifle (Ruger, Marlin)
$300 shotgun (500, 870)
$1000 rifle (AR, AK)
$350 .22 pistol (Ruger, Buckmark)

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

For anyone who has an ACE side folding AR-15 stock adapter on their AK, was the mechanism so stiff when you got it, it was damn near impossible to open/close? I'm hoping I just need to grease the spring or something. :vmad: Folding takes 2 hands, not because it's stiff but I need to push upon the s...

Alpha looks great, that will probably get my vote. If submissions are needed, here's one:

But if icon sets can't be changed without customization, then ignore this submission.

Re: Fenix PD35 LED Flashlight - EDC, Tactical Excellence!

Ive discounted all the Fenix lights in this series because of the side switch. It doesnt look durable but does look like I'd hit it on shit all the time. Can it be locked out? I EDC an LD12, pushing the side button while the light is off does nothing. So it won't change your mode accidentally. If I...

AA, C, and D batteries are all 1.5v and you can buy/build adapters to use AA's in C/D devices.

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

That sucks Charra. If you get it fixed, update us about it. I sent my Saiga to Cadiz to fix its canted front sight block, back when they used to do the warranty work on them. They managed to make it canted in the other direction! And now they don't do warranty work anymore. I'm sure someone in St Lo...

Leatherman Wingman & Style CS Combo (2 multitools) at Home Depot for $20. The website (link below) shows it for $30, but my store has them marked down to $20. They were found in a clearance area in the tool aisle. This is my first Leatherman, it feels sturdier than my old Gerber 400, and lighter tha...

Re: I've got 10,000 to spend

I would get 1. 9mm handgun (Glock, XD, M&P, HK, Sig, CZ, etc) 2. .22 rifle (Ruger, Marlin) 3. Gun safe $500-$5000 Then research rifles (AR, AK, etc). Decide what you want, and wait for one to become available. Also, if you're in a state with potential magazine bans, I would go ahead and buy 10 mags ...

Re: Latest version standard Eneloop or Eneloop XX ?

I'm also standardizing my BOB items on AA batteries. I don't have any input on the differences on the Eneloops, but I'll just add some more small AA radio options: Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket AM/FM Radio (AM/FM, 2xAA, $10) Grundig M300R Mini300 (AM/FM, shortwave, 2xAA, $50) Grundig ETON Mini GM400 (AM/FM...

Re: Anyone use Chinese LEDs as weapon lights?

If it does fail, I assume the failure point will be the emitter itself. And since this is a P60 host, you could add a higher quality drop-in easily. I'm going to respectfully disagree. My sense is the most frequent point of failure is the spring battery contact(s) on cheaper lights, which can get c...

Re: Anyone use Chinese LEDs as weapon lights?

I just ordered a Solarforce L2P that I plan on attaching to my 870. There is a youtube video of someone shooting his shotgun with an L2P mounted and it seems to handle it. If it does fail, I assume the failure point will be the emitter itself. And since this is a P60 host, you could add a higher qua...

The biggest mistake here (besides the theft) is the clerk getting you involved. And if anyone got hurt, his mistake wouldn't have alleviated you of any medical or legal trouble.

Last year I was shopping for a SAA. I was strongly considering an EAA or Uberti to save some money, but my research convinced me to spend a little bit more and get the Ruger New Vaquero. I got the .357 4.62" SS and I'm very happy with it. Its very well built and really feels like a high quality piece.
