Re: Where to Buy Medical Products: The Definitive Thread

Google it - BP Medical Supplies. You can buy anything they sell, without medical director or a prescription. I buy bags of Sodium Chloride for my burn kit (b/c its easier to store than bottles). However, I also keep some IV stuff on hand for after parties... I get the IV caths on eBay; and buy the t...

Re: Show off your FAK -- Pics Links and Descriptions Only

I think you'll find that if you severely bend a C-Collar, and then expose it to heat/cold of weather, it'll crack when you go to use it. If you must store it other than flat, hook it up in it's circle and store stuff in and around it. That's what we do with our Wilderness kits, we have two collars, ...

Re: How do I fix this?

I had a nick on my leg while hiking. My version of hiking is off trail, up rock faces, etc. It got infected secretly. By that I mean, I didn't know it till it was big, inflamed, and badly swollen. Like pitting edema, swollen. I don't do doctor visits. Cleaned it up good, sterilized the shit out of i...

Killing them with MS.. Sarcasm dip shit. Their blood will turn pink and they'll die quick enough on their own. Who said anything about carrying it all around? I shelter in place. My focus would be treating shock and hypovolemia, in an effort to help someone survive long enough to get them to an esta...

Re: Makeup of an IV Kit?

If you're treating hemorrhage, rather than simple dehydration, you'd better have a couple (or more) bags of Ringers on hand. It's as close you can come to replacing lost blood. Does a better job than saline. While NS will work, LR will work better.. Get some. Large caths the better, higher volume dr...

Re: The Throw Down Thread 2009 (What the FAK?!!)

New or not, I was just offering pointers. Xeroform, I have those too. But your asking for infection, since you all plan on using this stuff in case of disaster, where no alternate medical help is available. Petroleum is a bitch to clean off, and it's gonna hurt like a bitch too. Non-Stick dressings....

Re: The Throw Down Thread 2009 (What the FAK?!!)

You may want to replace the gauze and synthetic gauze in your burn kits with varing sizes of NON STICK dressings. Gauze.. sticks to burns. That waterjel stuff works good, but for a finished dressing - which you want to be dry unless it still feels like it's burning (to the patient). You're going to ...

I didn't think she was attacking him.. I'm sure, the concern is, that "anyone" can get this equipment.. and what would happen if it got into the hands of someone who has no concept of emergency prehospital care. But some of the points are true. All of this equipment is meant for on site, immediate c...

Re: Walgreens Deal: Low-Cost First Aid Kit

That kit is **ALWAYS $9.99 at Walmart... It's not a deal. You can't treat anything with in. You need to get like a metal box kit from a hardware store or construction outlet. Bandages, large dressings, etc.. Not 300 bandaids, tylenol, and 60 wipes. This is BS first aid. You keep this shit in your me...

Hemostatic agents aren't controlled substances.. So, they can be sold on eBay. Whether or not they can repackage, and market as sterile is different. Buy one and run tests on it for contamination. Then, sue.

You should include some sort of suction device in AED Response Packs.. If you're doing CPR, bagging, using an AED.. Do it right, and have a suction device on hand.

This is also a really good lot of suppliers, I've dealt w/ them on numerous occasions, and would vouch for their good service and fine products. I'm from the Poconos, so I find the ones in Jersey easier to access, even by mail. The two in blue are more of the mom and pop type places, good customer s...

Re: Your opinions on the Adventure Medical Kit Comprehensive?

Too expensive for such a small kit. You could get a nice sized trauma bag, with stuff you'd be able to use as an EMT-B, for less than the SRV of $190. Nice thing about Galls is you can get all the kits in "subdued" tactical black; or Progressive, they have a whole section on military and tactical co...

Here's some good Trauma/Splinting techniques. IMO, EMS has gotten away from providing good first aid, and focused more on the assessment skills.

I'm using "you" as a general term, not directing it at anyone in particular. I don't play mind games like that. Well, it's not hard to end up with a dilemma like this, when reading the contents of the kit in question. Suppose you do have a disaster. No EMS, No Hospitals Available. You have several p...

I had purchased a pallet of equipment, which most of the items came in. Prior, I would buy factory bumped medical bags, stock them, and sell them on eBay. All of the IV equipment, came in Broselow Kits. I got an amazing deal on those. I'm like Radar from M*A*S*H, I can find anything, and get a deal ...

Closer and cheaper than walmart. But otherwise everything came from Progressive Medical International; BP Medical Supplies; C and F Fire Supply and Dixie EMS USA. All can be found with google.
