Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

There have been claims that there are AZs in other cities, but one of the reported cities is Richmond, VA. Not for lack of trying the last couple of days, but there is no AZ here in Richmond at this point. Can anyone confirm AZs anywhere other than Seattle right now?

The ones shutting down will still be a distribution point for meals, though. This is a real problem with the schools shutting down. In some districts the school meals are the primary meals for too many of the kids. And thats terrible. This country needs to remember how to cook, school lunch has gro...

Still wondering, too: how did these last four days cause you to lose 6 years towards retirement?
Investments have taken a major hit due to economic uncertainty regarding a global pandemic. It's all in the numbers.

Re: Teaching Basic First Aid Stuff to Older Kids/Teens

We used the Boy Scout first aid manual and a home CPR class that comes with a little dummy to teach our kids basic first aid. When they are 16 or older, they can take courses offered by the community. Around here, once a year, a group comes through and offers free CPR and FA classes for free. There ...

I wouldn't grind hard things like nuts or corn in a plastic one (for fear of deforming the screw), but it should work for meats and cheese. Seems like the low scores were for the suction cup that holds it onto the counter... Did you have any trouble with that? No, I found that it held very well. I ...

A Different Kind of Menstrual Cup

We've mentioned menstrual cups here before and I know some of us use them and some of us find them clumsy and difficult to use. Generally, you have to pinch the body of a menstrual cup to release any suction on the vaginal wall before pulling it out, but that can be challenging, particularly for tho...

Watch the body armor, too. Hubby bought a high level body armor for police work many years ago. After a couple years of wear, a seam came open and he discovered the armor inside was several levels under what he had paid for.
