If you follow #Kilauea in Instagram, you get a lot of pictures and videos of the eruption. It sucks for the people there, but it is truly beautiful and fascinating, imo.

Re: Teaching Basic First Aid Stuff to Older Kids/Teens

We used the Boy Scout first aid manual and a home CPR class that comes with a little dummy to teach our kids basic first aid. When they are 16 or older, they can take courses offered by the community. Around here, once a year, a group comes through and offers free CPR and FA classes for free. There ...

Re: Manual Meat Grinder

I wouldn't grind hard things like nuts or corn in a plastic one (for fear of deforming the screw), but it should work for meats and cheese. Seems like the low scores were for the suction cup that holds it onto the counter... Did you have any trouble with that? No, I found that it held very well. I ...

Manual Meat Grinder

I've had several manual and electric meat grinders and have been generally unhappy with any of them. My last frustrating gizmo was packed away due to a recent move, so I decided to find a cheap replacement rather than spend hours trying to figure out what box I put something that barely works anyway...

A Different Kind of Menstrual Cup

We've mentioned menstrual cups here before and I know some of us use them and some of us find them clumsy and difficult to use. Generally, you have to pinch the body of a menstrual cup to release any suction on the vaginal wall before pulling it out, but that can be challenging, particularly for tho...

My only internet at home in Whatcom County is through mobile devices and I've been quite happy with it for a few years. I might feel different if I was into video games. For research, email, and Netflix, Sprint has held up just fine for me. What does bug me is sometimes the tablet is not user frien...

Re: Church shooting

The father of the man who officials say gunned down worshipers Sunday at a rural Texas church has broken his silence. "We we are grieving, our family is grieving," Michael Kelley told ABC News Wednesday at his home in New Braunfels, Texas, located about 35 miles north of Sutherland Springs, where t...

Watch the body armor, too. Hubby bought a high level body armor for police work many years ago. After a couple years of wear, a seam came open and he discovered the armor inside was several levels under what he had paid for.

Shooter supposedly tried to blow the fuel tanks as speculated days ago using incendiary rounds... but it was jet fuel and I guess the incendiary rounds weren't actually shot at the tank?? I dunno, CNN never gives good info on firearms so I never fully read and just skim. http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/...

Re: World War Flea - the Flea Apocolpsye in Real time

In my search to end my own flea menace that has cropped up this year, I have read that the "beneficial nematodes" gardeners sometimes get to control garden pests will also work to control flea populations in the yard. I'm hesitant to introduce a parasite to the local environment, but I thought I'd m...

Pretty sure we were without power for ten days after Irene. Always good to be ready for long-term power outages. Re: FLOODED TEXAS PLANT IN DANGER OF EXPLODING

The article I read said they attempted to run their coolers with gennies, but the gennies succumbed to flooding. What if a generator manufacturer or installer gets gennies down there on raised trucks or temporary platforms? Would it be possible to get those coolers back on in time?
