Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

I am not an attorney so the following is just my opinion. Under federal law it is legal for a person to manufacture a firearm for personal own use assuming it is not "transferred". Note I have read that there is some debate over sold vs. transfer so that is why I used the term transferred. There ma...

Re: North Korea Saber Rattling

In other news Trump announced that he was removing all US troops from South Korea and no longer participating in joint US-ROK military training exercises. No really. Not stated but implied is the US recognition of DPRK as a country. I wonder if that might not be a bad idea. With the amount of (admi...

Were you taking anti-histamines at the time? Also adrenaline/endorphins will reduce welts [hives] caused by allergies and reduce pain sensation. If you were working hard at the time then maybe you had some adrenaline on your side. I don't get welts or itchyness from them either, usually, but feel t...

Zero/Minimal response to mosqito bites?

I'm asking this out of curiosity more than anything else. I've been out of country for about a decade and a half, and am temporarily on the west coast of Florida where I grew up. Been doing some yard work for a friend, in shorts of course, and looked down to discover my legs festooned with mosquitoe...

There is no rush. Trump maybe just nutty enough to pull it off. Critics are now saying that the good faith destruction of the secret nuclear bomb facility was not all that. https://nypost.com/2018/06/02/experts-doubt-north-korea-really-destroyed-nuclear-test-site/ The weak explosions on May 24 at e...

The ones that make the guns that are used to kill less than 1% of those murdered in the US everyone. Can baker's choose to no longer d...

Re: Maryland highschool shooter dies after exchange with off

Memorials are for the living not the dead. Being dead is easy; the hard part is for the ones you leave behind. That is why a memorial plaque or headstone is desirable. Your enemies can find relief and your friends and family can remember you when they see it. My father died unexpectedly this past N...

I fully agree.

However, when things like involuntary commitment & being forcibly medicated need to be done, they need to be done.

Re: active shooter Parkland FL. High school

These decisions should be made by people who have a traditional, classical education of mental illness. Very few of the mentally ill are a danger to themselves or others. I wasn't meaning to imply that the majority were. Simply that there are those who are, and that they need to be treated and care...

Re: active shooter Parkland FL. High school

Earlier you referred to the cost per inmate of correctional facilities as likely being comparable with that of a psych hospital. I suspect that the cost per would be substantially higher due to expense of treating the patients rather than simply incarcerating them, but perhaps even with a higher co...

Re: active shooter Parkland FL. High school

My concern regarding going back to the higher level of involuntary committals we had in the first half of the 20th century isn't the expense, it's the potential for abuse. If the same crowd that pushes for gun control gained control or undue influence over the process people who were not truly a dan...

Re: active shooter Parkland FL. High school

The public isn't willing to go back to the pre- 1950's-1960's pubic mental health hospitals because of the conditions in which the patients lived, and they're not willing to fund pubic mental health care facilities providing care to current standards because of the cost.

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

The problem with many places looking for people is that they aren't willing to invest in the person. Send me to training, get someone who's willing to apprentice and learn. If a company actually invests in people they would see that loyalty would grow and know that the company actually values them....
