Re: Air Force "Shoot to Disarm" training? SRSLY?

13 years in the Air Force so far. I'm not security forces or anyone who carries a gun for a living, I turn wrenches for a living. But I have gone through the training that everyone initially goes through every time I have gotten ready to go overseas. Our training is lacking, in that it isn't very re...

Re: New Sig P320 Compact with pics and review.

Yea on my CZ I had to adjust the back sight for the same reason. I just pushed hard with my thumb and it worked fine you might just try that or use the magazine before you buy a tool for it. I do have a question for you. When I was looking for another gun I looked at Sig and Glock I finally chose m...

Re: AR308 Build Questions

I am not an expert on what's available parts wise, but I have worked on a few AR 10's. I would encourage you to get an adjustable gas block, if the barrel manufacturer has one available that is directly compatible with the their barrel get it. I worked on one that didn't line up well with the gas p...

Re: New Sig P320 Compact with pics and review.

I have the P250 and am very interested in the P320. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160604/6ea873388130abdd7c581a9d9563fb33.jpg Presumably I can use the same magazines and maybe holster also? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk If it's a later-model P250, with the small cut-outs in the sides of ...

AR308 Build Questions

On a whim, I ordered a CMMG Mk3 complete lower with their A1 buttstock. I have scoured Arfcom and google to get some ideas for this new build, but would like some input from the hivemind here. My ultimate vision is a DMR/SASS build with decent glass and folding BUIS. I don't want a collapsible stock...

Also, I'm digging the silver-colored controls.

Re: New Sig P320 Compact with pics and review.

I have the 320 Carry model with a 17 round mag. I have about 2K rounds through it without issue. Trigger is great and it seems to be well made. I would wait to see how defense or carry ammo groups and point of impact look before moving the sights. I shoot the cheapest ammo available, but the only a...

Re: New Sig P320 Compact with pics and review.

UPDATE Got the large grip module in, and off to the range I went. My groups tightened up considerably, but my point-of-impact is still about 4" left at 25ft. Using a silhouette target, aiming for the "heart", I am tearing a ragged hole in the "right lung". Has anyone drifted their own sights, withou...

New Sig P320 Compact with pics and review.

I got the bug to buy a new handgun, so I went to the local gun stores to fondle a few. I like Glocks, and I liked the Sigs that I owned in the past, so I looked at the Sig P320. After some shopping-around, I ordered one from Bud's, and a week later I got the call to pick it up. In the interest of am...

Re: It's CLP, NOT KY Jelly

I saw this article elsewhere and thought, "maybe the DuffelBlog is doing a legit story for once" because this just seems too believable to be satire. Besides, so many people believe it's real, I'm going to keep spreading the story around. ^This. Especially after going through leadership courses wit...

Re: New Ruger Mini in .300blk

The thing that gets me about the Mini's, other than the ridiculous price, is that Ruger insists on throwing the ugly, TAPCO-esqe collapsing stock on the tactical model. They should have stuck with the classic wood-and-metal AC556 folding stocks for their tactical model and called it a day :awesome:

Re: New AR Build

Nice! I run an H buffer in my Bravo 14.5" middy and it cycles steel and brass just fine. I have the tritium version of the Troy rear, so far so good though I think I'd prefer a folding model. I wouldn't fret the Loctite purchase, you'll use it on all sorts of stuff. I use it on pistol grip screws, ...

So I got her all put together. Here's what I went with, other than what has already been posted. Spike's stripped lower CMMG Lower Parts Kit Spike's milspec buffer tube with T-2 buffer Magpul MOE stock (Couldn't find a place that had CTR's in stock, that were decently priced) Magpul MOE grip Magpul enhanced aluminum Trigger guard Spike's midlength 16" upper with BAR...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Is it true that a lightweight barrel is "just as good" as a govt. profile barrel, since they are the same thickness under the handguards? Also, what do you guys think of a 14.5" midlength lightweight barreled upper with a pinned flash supressor, vs. a 16" midlength govt. profile barreled upper? I am...

Re: New AR Build

Nice! I like the CTR stock better than the MOE for the locking mechanism... Feels about the same otherwise. Also like the STR quite a bit for the better cheek weld but it's heavier...and makes your wallet lighter! I run a regular carbine weight buffer in most of my middys; think I have an H buffer ...

New AR Build

I came across a lower parts kit I had squirreled-away a few years back, and had a little extra money left over, so I had an epiphany that I should build myself another AR. Due to unfortunate, unforeseen circumstances, I had to sell my other one, leaving me with a hole in my safe that needed to be fi...

Re: Old man's present.

Sorry about the thread necro, but wanted to update everyone. He's chosen a Glock 22 Gen 4. He fired a friend's Glock 22 and was smitten with it. I helped him install the backstrap that fit the best, and it's now taken the place of his old Ruger P90 as his nightstand gun. He mounted one of these to i...

New Glock Gen 4.

I just returned from overseas, so I figured it was time to pick up a new handgun. I wanted something that could share EDC duty with my Glock 19, since my other handgun, a Glock 21, is a bit too bulky to conceal effectively. I did a little shopping around, and wound up with a NIB Gen 4 Glock 30. Now ...

Re: Old man's present.

He'd probably appreciate a nice 1911, and you can get plenty of different ones for under $1000. Check out Springfield or even Ruger's 1911. Might be a good call. He likes 1911's, and fires them pretty well. He has also tried my Glock 19 and Glock 21 and seemed to like them both, and shot well with ...

Re: Old man's present.

Also, he already has his bases covered as far as other categories go. He's got a decent rifle, and a .22 for plinking/small game gathering. The handgun is a sticking point, so that is what I want to get for him. He has an older Smith & Wesson 59 that seems to "pattern" rather than group, and a Ruger...

Old man's present.

For special occasions such as birthdays, and father's days, I've sent my old man cash to his paypal account with the implicit understanding that he would take it and buy a decent handgun with it once it accumulated. It seems over the course of a few years, he's gathered enough for me to finally buy ...

Re: Looking for AR-15 carbine optic input

After seeing what larue mounts tend to do to railed uppers, I'm not buying anymore. To add to that, I personally think Mark Larue is kind of a jackass. Larue is not the only way to go if you need a quality mount. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but what do Larue mounts do to flat top uppers? I hav...

Re: Advice on caring for a hand-me-down Win 1897

I have nothing really pertinent to add, except that this is an awesome present. I think the nail bead site adds a bit of class to it personally. Speaks volumes of the true "Do-it-yourself" generations before us. +1 for leaving the finish as is. Linseed oil on the furniture, and a good coat of oil of...
