Re: Sonim cell phones

I have been using the Sonim XPS3400 for two months now. I am on my second one. The speaker quit working on the first one. Took it back to my service provider and they gave me a brand new one. It is clunky, but I have dropped it on concrete while on top of a 6' ladder and it even got submerged in 8" ...

Re: Are Scanners Still Relevant

I live in the sicks and the agencies around here still use analog systems. Some trunking but most are single repeater type setups.
So I went with a used PRO-97.
Like others have said, used is good.

Looking good. I really like the way the Leatherman is attached. When you get it, I'd like to see some side profile pics.

Re: Passed my first Ham test

Congrats on passing the Tech and General tests. I have the 817's big brother, the 897. I bought mine for some of the same reasons you listed. I wanted an all mode, (most) all band rig as I don't have a lot of room for a lot of equipment. I thought of getting the internal battery, but I usually just ...

Renewal series (Kindle Ebook)

Been reading the Renewal series by JF Perkins. The story takes place in the not too distant future. The "Breakdown" happens in 2012, there is a war, EMP, financial collapse all at once. The story takes place 37 years after the breakdown, in 2049. It darts back and forth between the past and present ...

Re: FREE BULK FOOD & SUPPLIES!!- Extreme Couponing TLC

The missus and I are starting to get more and more into couponing where we can and it is starting to pay off. Now we are nowhere near the level of what you see on TV, and I doubt we'll ever reach that level. Right now we have so much cereal, it ain't even funny. We are having trouble finding a spot ...

Saw it the other night. Looks promising so far, I really like the premise.
Another plus, and unlike other Discovery "reality shows", there isn't all of that arguing and bickering, which i am thankful for.

Good work!
I have been playing around with Kydex. Nice easy stuff to work with. I like to use a toaster oven and a heat gun to do the final fitting.

Here is a thread about other member's exploits

Good work!
I am working a mount for my truck that uses the receiver hitch.
I use a J-Pole as well. It is mounted to the sewer vent on my house, about 15-20- off of the ground.

I'm down for a PSK net. Tried it once before with marginal success (bad bands conditions).

Re: Getting a Daisy Red Ryder!

I got a Winchester (made by Daisy) break barrel air rifle for my Christmas a few years back. A present from my wife. It is advertised as shooting at 1000 FPS but I have no way of confirming this. I use wadcutters in mine for plinking and squirrel hunting.

Re: Auto repair nightmares

Thought I did a good job replacing the front brakes on my truck. New pads, rotors, repacked the bearings with fresh grease, everything worked as should, till I drove it to work the next morning. Had an inner bearing to sieze up...made a real low pitch hum. Got to work, pulled off the center cap and ...

Re: Diagnosing Misfires (Cars, not firearms)

That is frustrating. I buy the brand that Advance Auto and Autozone stock, can't think of the name right now, but I have had some last only around 10,000 miles and I have some that have almost 175,000 miles on 'em. When I first bought my F150, the coils were dealer only items and you had to buy all ...

Re: Diagnosing Misfires (Cars, not firearms)

In my experience, a clogged fuel filter or fuel pump that ain't long for this world does not cause specific misfires, like on your case. You might want to look into checking the injectors, but I don't know about your model of engine.
Sounds like the coils you got from Amazon are junk.

I usually hit up Lowes and Home Depot for Black Friday sales. Last year, I got some nice Stanley flashlights and a years supply of AA batteries. Plus, Lowes and Home Depot's sales go on from Firday through Sunday so I don't have to get up at O'dark thirty to get in on the deals.

There are programs out there (MobiPocket Creator is a free one I use) that will convert PDF's into Kindle format (.AZW, I think it is).
I have the LDS Preparedness Guide, Where there is no Doctor/Dentist, Nuclear War Survival Skills, US Constitution and the Federalist Papers on mine.

I was reading the author's page over at Amazon and it said these two books are currently in development as feature films.

Discovered during a routine check that my spare tire was flat. I aired it back up and noticed it was leaking around the bead. Took the tire off and found the entire bead area was crusted with rust and tire sealant. Took a wire wheel to the rim and a scotchbrite to the tire to get all of the funk/rus...
