Re: My Paleo Diet Blog

For all the people who are either already doing or looking into trying the paleo thing: have you read any of the books on the subject, and if so, which ones? I am in the process of reading Robb Wolfs book The Paleo Solution, and I am also in the process of listening to all of his podcasts (found he...

Re: My Paleo Diet Blog

Wow, I was wondering if any other prepers, were doing the paleo thing. Its good to see all these ideas. My wife and I have been doing strickt paleo since Jan 1st, we just went in cold turkey, it seemed easier that way. We really went on a bender eating all the junk in the house before we started, tr...

Re: EDC Flashlight, which one?

I carry a couple of flashlights, my daily carry is an Olight I15 Infinitum, its pretty bright with a regular AA, but when you put a 14500 lithium cell in it it is really bright 205 lumens claimed for an hour. It is adjustable so you can use it on a lower setting for a long time like 50 hours, and it...

Re: The Shotgun Slingshot!

Rocks and other small stuff ain't good ammo for this. You need heavy pellets as otherwise the impact is not hard enough for any serious damage. So lead shot works best. Jörg That's what I was worried about, thanks. Probably can't find a lot of lead shot lying around unless there are a bunch of peop...

Re: The Shotgun Slingshot!

That is great, I wonder how well it would work with random small rocks and such that could be scavenged? That would definitely take care of pesky animals around camp. Extra kudos for the video.

The seller has enough positive feed back, it should not be a problem, but if there not real, I demand my money back, or leave negative feed back and make pay pal give me my money back.

Re: Need a new pair of sunglasses

Okay so I started looking around on e-bay and ended up getting a pair of Oakley flak jackets black with black iridium lenses. Its really bone stock, but it was $55 brand new with free shipping. So when I get them I will see how I like these lenses and go from there. I saw lots of replacement lenses ...

Re: Need a new pair of sunglasses

You're going to get a trade off with sunglasses. Go lighter and it helps in low light situations, but suck in bright sun, or get darker and have the opposite happen. to the OP: let us know what you get and post pictures Part of the reason why I like the Flak Jackets is the interchangeable lenses, b...

OP, are you military/public service? Oakleys are the best on the market, they have saved my eyes more than once. If you are the above... usstandardissue.com I preform a public service just not the one that would get me a discount. My wife is a public school teacher though, I wasn't sure I that site...

Re: Need a new pair of sunglasses

Looks like there's a lot of Oakley love around here, does anyone have a place to order online with good price and selection? I am assuming there must be better prices available than whats listed on there website. Also you said you like the XLJ lens shape, what options on the lens do you prefer and f...

Re: Need a new pair of sunglasses

I own Half Jackets and Flak Jackets. I definitely prefer the Flaks. The flared temples of the Half Jackets don't work well with most hats or any sort of ear pro when shooting. The Flak Jackets are great all-around sunglasses, useful for driving, running, hiking, shooting or anything. Go with the XL...

Need a new pair of sunglasses

So I need a good pair of sunglasses. I was looking at the ESS Crossbow , or a pair of Oakley half jacket or flack jacket. I was interested in other recommendations. I drive for a living, and am in and out of buildings a lot, and my price range is $100-$200, closer to $100 is preferable. I will also ...

Re: Sugar...how do I reduce my intake?

I was eating no sugar added for 4 years or so and so I found lots of creative ways to find stuff thats not nasty that was no sugar added. Plain yogurt with fresh or frozen fruit in it is good, I would get frozen blueberries. Plain oatmeal with raisins and cinnamon, not cinnamon sugar, is good, depen...

Re: Gear whores, here's $1000 of my money.

Do you have a lot of shallow water you are walking through on a regular basis to need the waterproof boots? I find my feet sweat way too much in gore-tex boots, even though they say breathable, and if its going to be 35c you may want to at least consider a non waterproof boot, maybe like a military ...

Re: Bullet Proof/Kevlar Jackets

Every time I hear about 'bullet proof' vests and such I always want one but then I realize that I would never wear it so it would be a very ineffective toy. One time I was up shooting with some buddies and one of them had a vest on, that was a good time to be wearing protection but not necessary. No...

That would be awesome if .50 cal rounds were not $5 each! But at least the government has the money to spend on our protection.

Re: Do you wear COOLMAX clothing?

Oh yea I wear cool max exclusively for hiking and sports and stuff, and I loved it over cotton tees. I still want a good base layer in merino wool but I can't justify the price yet. I usually wear long sleeves even when its warm because it keeps me cooler, the fabric wicks your sweat to the outside ...

I was going to ask about the wool underwear as well because I was going to get some but they cost a lot and I wasn't sure if any brands were good or bad.

Here are some that I was looking at:

Ibex

Smartwool

Icebreaker

I have my leatherman wave, in a Spec-Ops mag holster mounted horizontally, an iPhone in a Maxpedition phone case, an Olight I15 Infinitum in the case that came with it, but I am looking for a new case for that if anyone has a suggestion. I would ultimately love a case that fits my light and a spare ...

Hey. HEY! Who said the dough was gonna be sticky? SEVERE understatement. I spent 5 minutes scrubbing the dough off my hands after mixing all the ingredients, lol. It doesn't have to be sticky you can just add more flower until its not sticky. It will change the bread a little so you may like it bet...
