Re: Colt Government Model 380-Automatic Resembling Question

Thank you tomturkey! I fixed that problem, and the little handgun is almost back to being in perfect order. Sadly the disconnect is missing, but that's easy to replace and part of the trigger assembly is bent. This gun sure had a rough life before I found it. Thanks for your help! I'm hoping to take...

Re: Colt Government Model 380-Automatic Resembling Question

Yes, I've done the same. As for the shoebox thing I have run into that, while rummaging through a box I found a small .22 revolver with a collection of springs and pieces with it. Needless to say I have no clue where they go. Gunsmith trip I suppose, and may be the case with the 380. It helped a lot...

Re: Colt Government Model 380-Automatic Resembling Question

Exactly, down to the color as well. Yes, I try not to take the gun apart from the slide and to take out the barrel for a good cleaning. Sadly that doesn't mean sometimes you accidentally mess it up and one of those pieces just goes, well I'm not sure exactly what I did which I guess it the part that...

Re: Colt Government Model 380-Automatic Resembling Question

The same design is there, so really it looks like a miniature 1911. As for the Colt Mustang, it looks very close to it. Supposedly, to what I've read the government model is a Mustang of some sort. My google skills are weak today.

Sorry, yes, it's the magazine well.

As for which one? The pamphlet simply says Colt Government Model 380-Automatic.

Colt Government Model 380-Automatic Resembling Question

While down at my grandparents helping them prepare for their rather large move up towards closer to where we, all the rest of the family live my grandfather bestowed on me a few firearms. One being a rather tortured Colt 380 Government Model. It's a pretty piece but has had a few beatings and thanks...

Re: My BOAT and BOAT SAW.

Pretty sweet! How exactly did you make the handle for the saw?

Also you should throw in water purification tablets. Dirt cheap and really small you could easily fit them in there. Maybe a plastic freezer bag with paracord wrapped around it on the outside?

Re: Hidy-hole compartments in your truck/SUV/bus

My van used to have a shitty little spare tire. One of the small ones. Well awhile back something slammed into the belly of my van and bent the compartment that the tire is in. The compartment is underneath the floor panel between the front seats and the middle. Lift up two carpets and open up a lit...

Re: Bug Out Water

As for my BOB I have at the moment two nalgine bottles and a camelback. Right next to my BOB are a few one gallon bottles of water for filling them up. In the car I keep four gallons of water and a pad of water bottles along with my GHB. With me at all times I usually have a nalgine along with plast...

Re: When do you lock down?

I don't really have one. Where I live when we get sick we stay at home till we feel better. We're the type of folks who dislike going to the hospital. Anyway I live in my own little community so really just stay in with my food and wait it out. I don't think the flu is going to turn everybody into f...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Vacuumed, scrubbed, and carpet cleaned my car and organized everything in it and put it back. Nothing worse then bugging out in a smelly, dirty, unorganized car! I also built another small alcohol stove for the car.

Re: My Truck Mess Kit

First off I would say get rid of some of that silverware. Quite a lot. I like it and actually while at the grocery store today I picked up a few things to make my own alcohol kit and the rest of the stuff I'd need to build a second one for my car. Second cheap and good [if possible] are the way to g...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Finished up my miniature cooking kit to carry along when I'm out in the woods for a day hike, hunting, etc.

Bought a 12 case of small water bottles for $1.00, sales.

Going to go out and get some more salt and pepper packets.

If you can also use the new filters then I'd say go for it! I love mine! I've pumped so much water through it and its protected me from every nasty bug in the universe that floats in the water.

If you replace all of those canned foods for something lighter that would be one light pack!

I'm surprised yours was so light. Mine weighed around 50lbs if I recall correctly.

Re: Meal Replacement Milkshakes

I do, bout six packets. They don't taste bad either if you use cold water. If you use lukewarm water it tastes like paper but with cool water they taste like stale cookies. But they do fill you up, they are light, and they do give you the nutrients you need. I would never just pack them though. Grea...

Re: Merovech's Fire Kit.

Hacksaw blade instead of knife + 1.

As for the zip tie I would instead use tape, or rope [great idea Dave], because you could use that zip tie for something much more useful.

+1 on waterproofing the matches or replacing them. Still better than nothing.

Very nice, very simple, and it looks sturdy enough. All I have to add is throw in a good notepad. All you need to do now is wrap it in paracord  .

Re: Das BOAT *Update 1*

Thanks TC.

I was thinking of adding the bellow:

Inside:
Kevlar sowing thread
Waterproof paper

Inside the gallon bag:
Identification, driver's license, pass-port, etc
Ten dollar bill, two five dollar bills

Outside:
Pencil

I have added everything except the pencil and paper thus far.

Re: Das BOAT

I came up with the bellow today: I scrapped the lighter and the trashbag. Just too much stuff, it was just too chunky and too big. I've kept the 1 gallon freezer bag. I took the pins and everything and moved them inside of the BOAT. I still haven't added writing utensils. http://i39.tinypic.com/2udx...

Re: Das BOAT

Satire: The wrapping does kinda go into 'overkill'. But actually it really isn't that bad without the lighter which I'm bout to throw out. With the plastic bag and trashbag it only adds about half an inch with one layer of rope. So I was thinking of weaving the paracord so it'd fit better. Hopefully...

I have perfect eyesight, hearing, and a good sense of smell [for what its worth] along with some other thing. Weaknesses? My right knee gives out on occasional. It simply dies and it collapses. I got hit by a motorcycle, car, and I've done some pretty nasty spills on it to. I have dyslexia and at ti...
