I'm back- what'd I miss?

Hello ZS'ers! After a long (6 years?) break, I'm back. I hope you're all doing well!

For those of you (everyone?) that I haven't met, I'm Tom. I camp quite a bit, enjoy bushcraft, and spend way too much time on my SCA camping gear.

Re: Crazy guy at work.

It does seem odd, doesn't it?

My boss/best friend from my "other job" (making high-end halloween and haunted house masks and props, a very unprofitable venture) has been hanging out at the store recently, while we toss around ideas for this fall's haunt, so there has been an extra security factor.

Re: WTF Rifle of the Month *Open to all kinds of guns now*

Since the Raging Judge is okay, I wonder if anyone out there will finally make a proper Howdah pistol in 28, 20,12 gauge??? http://www.americanrifleman.org/Webcontent/images/2010-1/201017133654-w6511tar-7806_ms.jpg I desperately need one to fulfill my Mad Max fantasy... Re: Crazy guy at work.

Skip's not making bail, he'll be gone for 5 to 10 this time. Better news, my boss picked up a can of "House" pepper spray, by can i mean 2 duty-belt-sized cans put together. And the boss promoted me to shift manager... sure, i still work alone but now i get $0.15 more per hour. Has anyone else ever ...

Re: Crazy guy at work.

If another job shows up that is safer and pays as well (after factoring in the 30-mile drive to ANYWHERE other than this store), i'll take it in a heartbeat. Until then, i'll keep the job. The aren't easy to find right now. Skippo is gone for a while, and there has NEVER been a similar incident at t...

Crisis averted- Skippo got caught for possession with the intent to distribute again tonight. Not that i was going to give the job up or anything, but it's good to know he'll be gone for several years.

Re: Crazy guy at work.

I hope he doesn't come back. I don't want to shoot a man, i'll be honest, but I want to get shot even less so i hope he just stays gone. Quitting is not an option at this point, it took me 3 months to find this job. The deputy who lives next door works shifts that coincide with mine in such a way th...

Crazy guy at work.

I am the night shift manager at a gas station, and see some weird stuff as a result of that. Tuesday took the cake. I had a customer in the store for 3 hours playing scratch off tickets because "she needed to win a hundred dollars." She dropped $327. Well that was an all-consuming task itself, but i...

I LEAVE YOU ALONE FOR TEN MINUTES...

A buddy of mine and I were at a gun show last weekend, and had been there for about an hour when the gun show hot dog i had for breakfast (mistake number one) decided it was done with me. SO i took off toward the friendly neighborhood Port-A-John and left my new-to-gun shows friend alone near an AR ...

I carry one on my keychain. It looks slightly phallic, but works great. The OC in it is relatively strong.

Price check... Norinco sks plus ammo

An old friend is selling his Norinco SKS, and I want to make him an offer. It is in a black choate folding stock but he has and will include the original. I already have one Norinco SKS, but the deal maker here is the 1000 rounds of steel-core ammo he's including. He wants $400. Is this a good deal?

I have one of the hollow-handled survival knives... it's black, not camo, and is basically just sitting on my bookshelf as a shelf marker for marking where exactly the book i am reading at the time should be returned to. The worst knife i ever bought was a "Stainless Steel- Pakistan" fixed blade wit...

Experienced CETME/ FAL/ L1A1 users... help?

I am trying to decide whether to buy a CETME, L1A1, or FAL. what are the practical differences between them and what are some pros/ cons about them? The ones I am looking at are all CAI rifles, which may be a dumb idea, but those are what I can get now. I am sorry if this was already discussed somew...

Re: Need help with my Winchester 97

3 questions... 1. How long is that barrel? 2. if the barrel is less than 18", di you get that papered as an SBS? (because if it is less than 18" and not registered, you could go to federal booty-rape prison for it) 3. Why do you want to put new furniture on what is at any rate a gorgeous classic gun?
