Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Double Taco Rifle Pouches, in re: to AK mags ? I've never heard anything but "AWESOMESAUCE!!!" about the Taco design. One day I'll have the money to buy them. I would have bought them instead of my TT AK/AR pouches, but I hadn't heard of them at the time I ordered. Yeah, I am right there with you o...

Re: Your review? Blackhawk drop leg/thigh SERPA 2 holster

Out shooting I once saw a guy trip and fall wearing a serpa. The holster fell right off the leg platform when he hit the deck. The 1/17th of an inch screws (exaggeration) simply couldn't hold the 2 together during a simple trip and fall. It was rather eye opening to be honest.

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

I think the only things left for my SGL 21-94 are an AimPoint Micro, a reinforcement plate for the receiver (at $10, no excuse to not have one), and that safety switch replacement (I'm not welding the finger tab onto my original in case something gets FUBAR... I'll more than gladly attempt it on a ...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Thanks for the help guys. The optic will probably be on hold for a few months, but I'll get it sorted out eventually. Any other recommendations for mods? Anything that could maybe cut some weight? It's not an unmanageable gun, but it would be nice if it was lighter. I'm debating inwardly about that...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

I bought a beryl folding stock from Robertrtg.com and it's a pretty sweet deal. Drop in (unlike an ace) and gives good cheek weld instead of a wire. Best of both worlds. Dammit.....Between you and RG, I'm going to end up with a Beryl before it's all over with. I don't think you'll regret it. It's g...

Maybe I missed the original question. I have the Nightshroud NOT the nightbreak. Sorry

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

I have the manticore. I ran it through a 2 day AK class since. It is definitely shorter and lighter.

Have not shot it at night, but could it really be any worse than the 74 comp?

Re: Went to the "Gun Show"

I usually go for the entertainment factor. I like to pick up odds and ends that I wouldn't buy online because of shipping. I've bought mosin stripper clips, ak surplus handguards, bandoleer or two, etc.

Mostly UTG rails, NCstar scopes, and 250 dollar mosins in my area. :(

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Has anyone tried the Manticore muzzle-brake or flash hider? I'm looking for something a little shorter than the 74-type brake that came on my rifle. I've got one. Yet to shoot it at night yet, but it is much shorter and lighter. Looks nice too. (because we all know thats what matters!) But anything...

Polish Beryl folders back in stock for cheap. Just ordered one at a great price. Not affiliated in any way, I'm just excited because I've been waiting for him to get them back in stock for months! AK accuracy is downplayed by people using 30 year old ammo and don't know how to use the sights properly.

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

That was just the last hour of the class, to see what we could get out of the ak. Was actually really cool. (and a nice break from rolling around in the dirt) A few tried it standing, with not as good results, but still got a few hits. The guys with T-1s mounted on ultimaks were killing it. Almost u...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

So I just got done with an AK class this weekend. Most of the class was ringing steel silhouttes lasered at 330 yds. This was with both 47s and 74s. I was rather impressed. Turns out everything you read on the internet ain't true, and AKs can be rather accurate. Eye opener for me. Never shot that f...

Re: Commie chest rig

Used to have one of these a long time ago that I bought for a Chinese AK I used to have. Only thing I didn't like about it were the wood button/tabs that kept the pouch closed (pain in the ass to open). Maybe I should get another one (the one I had went away in a trade along with that AK) and maybe...

This may be what you are looking for. I have it, and learned a lot because I have never been exposed to any of that stuff. (Like you, mostly weapons manipulation was all i'd been around.) Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

My Bulgy '74 has some weird mag issues. The mags have a slight forward and backward movement. If I pull the mag back in tight (using the old school MP5 grip) it is extremely difficult to release the mag. It binds it up somehow... It still goes bang and have had no malfunctions by the way. What say ...

Shoot my XD better because I love the trigger. However, my firing hand thumb seems to always ride the slide release/stop/whatever it is called this month. So M&P for a fighting pistol, XD for kicking my dad's ass target shooting.

Used to live there. Bought numerous guns and ammo there. Never had a problem. Had one bad mag that I took back after I got home and realized it. They switched it out without hesitation. Been good folk everytime I've been there.
