Re: Pelican Power Pack v2.0 [Modularized]

Yeah, those milspec connectors are hot, they're built to last. Do you know how many amps the cables and connectors are rated for? Those cables are probably worth about $100 each, BTW. Nice! They sure look like they would cost that much. Nope, but they seemed to be 12gauge wires. There are 4 pins, s...

Re: Pelican Power Pack v2.0 [Modularized]

Correct these are sealed AGM batteries. The reason I chose everything was because of price. I got a killer deal on almost everything and had to make do with what I got. Luckily what I got was very good stuff. The only thing that I bought in addition to the used pieces and whatever was left over from...

Damn! Such a nice color too.

I have red 80 on my driveway that still runs like a champ. Too bad aftermarket parts for it are still expensive.

Re: Jerry cans

I would suggest being careful with those blue cans. Blue is the DOT color for kerosene cans (yellow for diesel, red for gasoline). Since kerosene (sold for heaters, etc) is normally "water clear" it might be easy to mix the two up if you're in a rush and don't sniff it first and read the label. My ...

I feel you on that one. Part of the reason I'm getting the Jeep is I got my car stuck in a sandy wash on a dirt road, and it the windows got shot out... My wife wasn't too happy. why did the windows get shot out?? A lot of the times, out here in SoCal anyways there are always people on the trails w...

WES, I fucking love that thing. Man I'm loving every bit of that FJ, except the massive flashlight is 5000x cooler than the factory sub it's mounted to. Re: Gas storage inside an SUV...with a twist

I've have and used a super siphon for the first time about a month ago. It was too easy to fill up ~10 gallons that was on my roof rack. I never had to fill up without it before, but just thinking about it gives me pain in my back.

Re: Gas storage inside an SUV...with a twist

Do NOT do the blue jerry cans for water. For one, it's illegal, and you can get fined for the DOT violation. For another, color isn't going to deter anyone from stealing them. It's actually more likely to get stolen if it's blue, instead of "milk jug" color, for example. Blue is reserved for fuel o...

Re: Gas storage inside an SUV...with a twist

If you do go this route, definitely use a NATO style can. Those are said to be the best since they don't leak nor vent fumes

Re: Portable Pelican Power Pack

Looks nice. The only problem is all the power inverters use allot of power themselves. That uses your resources. If you could get or run gear that already runs on 12v it would last longer. You should look in to jump packs like this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Duralast-450-Amps-jump...

Re: Portable Pelican Power Pack

fwiw, you might want to check out newegg.com every once in a while for inverters. I bought mine for $20 (was $40) in anticipation for this project. This is the one I got: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882021068&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=104...

IIRC it was around $150 but that was with buying most of the parts locally. You probably can make it for cheaper if you search around for good prices.

Re: What did you today for your BOV/how did you prepare your

I've prepared by not doing anything. I went camping this past weekend and have been too lazy to take out all my gear. Tent, sleeping bag, chair, stove, canned food, piles of pelican cases, lights batteries, knives, etc.
