Im a little late on this post.
Is this something you would say has a high enough impact for say squirell and rabbit? If so, it could be an excellent survival tool.

If you are going to make a survival fishing kit I suggest putting it in a film canister. almost the same size as an altoid tin but it can also make a handy bobber for fishing.

Re: First time hunting: Illinois Firearms Deer Season 2008
I dont know about ill but in oregon the way it works is. you apply for any "controlled series hunts". these are hunts in certain areas where they only want the public to take a certain amount of animals. these hunts are normally 1-3 weeks long. To apply for these controlled hunts you have to have a ...

Re: Who hunts or wants to?
Oregon General season opens on the 4th of octoboer. Last sunday I went out and scouted a few places on a tip from an odfw officer. Checked em out and found a nice little S facing ridge side with tons of sign and 3 scrapes. Thats where I will be the morning of saturday the 4th. hopefully in one weeks...

Re: Anyone know a place to buy inexpensive leather knife sheaths
When I made my sheath for the knife I made I did this: 1. cut out the pattern with paper. always do this. you will use a lot more leather then you think. I did a simple wrap around 3/4 sheath. 2. cut your leather, leave some extra that you will grind off with a dremel/beltgrinder 3. use a leather gl...

Re: Bug out gun cleaning/repair
When I go squirrel hunting I carry everything I need in the void in my pistol grip. Its a 10/22 with a folding buttler creek stock. inside the grip compartment I carry a bore snake, 10-15 cotton patches and a little tube of 3in1. also a two sided brush (small end and a big end) that I cut in half an...

Re: Ruger 10/22 question
only thing i would do to a 10/22 is: 1) install a weaver rail. This gives you more options for optics. 2) POSSIBLY replace the stock with something more comfortable (not more fancy or more tactical) 3) buy LOTS of factory 10 rounders; you can get them at Walmart for about $10 each. For me, personal...

Re: Ruger 10/22 question
for a while I found my steel lips to be more reliable then the factory 10 rounder. Keep that thing clean, and adjust the spring properly. Now they all seem to shoot reliably, weird thing is, most reliable bulk ammo I found seems to be the remmington golden bullet. wtf?

Re: Starting a fire with a bullet
Doc, you didnt really say why you wanted to do this. So im going to guess there is a reason you want to do this with a rifle instead of an electric ignition. So im not gonna suggest anything like that, like these yayhoos above me  no offense guys, just poking fun. tannerite wont work, it does ...

Take my advice lightly as I have never done this... doesnt hoppes make a lead solvent? Im sure if you did this you would want to only have it submerged for a certain amount of time though.

Re: Ruger 10/22 question
It all depends on what you want the gun to be.. Hunting varmints? plinking? hiking with it? tactical groundhog? It also depends on how much you want to put into the rifle. My 10/22 is designed to be a squirrel and plinking rifle. its light and fast, and I can hit clay pigeons at 100 yards with it. I...
