Re: Japanese Parents getting children ready for ZPAW..

Japan, where porn is censored, guns are illegal and kids can fight terrifying monsters from beyond the grave on national TV.

In addition, that kid was going to throw a Dinosaur at the zombie. THAT would be a showdown, all right.

The possibilities...

Maybe we should bring back Anakin in the prequels as a lifeless, slow, dim bugger who lives to annoy people OH WAIT we already did.

Re: History Channel Life After People

I found it boring and uninteresting, and when I left to go work out the subject dissapeared from my mind quite quickly. Not terribly impressive, and that book was far better anyhow. But one question still bugs me: If people, ALL people, just disappeared, wouldn't there be an awful lot of car + plane...

Reminds me horribly of the rash of self-inflicted explosive wounds after the Anarchist's Cookbook/Handbook/any large explosives book came out...

Cool, though, and he seems to be fairly knowledgable/

Well bravo on staying calm and controlled under such stressful circumstances. As you said though, emergency hotlines, at least in my somewhat limited experiences, are slow at best and nonexistant at worst. For myself, though, I would have intervened. Obviously, call emergency services (better late t...

I'd board up from the outside against zombies if possible. If it was secured from the inside, it could be forced out, whereas you'd have to break the boards if they were on the outside.

I'd certainly have someone engrave it myself. Being able to communicate face to face with the person doing the engraving just seems more "secure."

Hmmm. Seems practical for human self-defense, but against a foe of the more dead variety I wouldn't trust it.

Many survival books can be bought from camping or extreme sports stores. Those kinds of places should be where you start.

Civilization as a whole has never been wiped out, but cililizations have been destryoed by single catastrophic events many times.

As someone said, I'd rather be prepared for the worst and never had it happen then have the billion-in-one chance disaster occuring and killing me instantly.
