Re: Quick Poll: Intermediary Weapon

I could understand if you’re carrying a bolt action and another rifle in the same caliber. A 16 inch barrel rifle with a red dot is not equal to (or less than) a 23 inch barreled one with magnification. But carrying three firearms is already tough enough without having to carry an extra set of mags ...

Re: Mossberg MVP - Anybody got one

I hate these ‘do all’ rifles that have no standard configuration. The Ar15 platform I can understand, many companies make it in many flavors. But I can’t get a straight answer from Mossberg besides ‘depends’ and ‘yeah’ on a product that only they make. 1) Can you confirm the standard barrel length? ...

Re: What vehicle would you choose?

I got to admit I "seen" a Prius pulling out of a parking spot on a quiet morning on what I assume was just electric power, and it was completely silent. All you heard was light crackle of the tires disturbing the debris on the asphalt. The problem with all electric vehicles during a ZPAW though is ...

It really comes down to if they are willing to hurt you or one of your loved ones to get what they’re looking for and if your willing to let them take/purchase/trade for whatever it is. Medicine comes to the forefront of my mind. People that suffer from or know others that have diabetes will need in...

Re: Learning to Distance Shoot - Looking for Optic Advice

I have a savage axis gen1 in .308 which I had bought as a rifle/scope combo deal (bushnell 3-9x40). Recoil to me was significant due to its lightweight. Threw on a $850 Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP which evened it out. I eventually took the vortex off and replaced it with Yukon 3-12x32 FFP because I...

Re: It's 2am Do you know where the gunfire in your front yar

It really depends upon my level of sleepiness. If it’s before suppertime, I would've dailed 911, wait an hour, put on some armor and check the perimeter of my property. If we’re talking about after supper, but before bedtime, I probably would’ve waited until shots have stopped firing. Checked/secure...

1) Ruger SR22- why not? Light, compact, plenty of ammo, threaded barrel(aftermarket of course). 2) DPMS LR308B-An accurate semi 7.62x51mm rifle…..do I really need to explain this? 3) Custom Nickel Rock island 1911- inexpensive, reliable, crimson trace, adjustable sights, aftermarket rail for flashli...

I can’t speak for the upper but I’ll vouch for that new frontier complete lower. Only thing that I hate about it is that the retaining pins are polymer as well. I first had trouble getting the forward pin to fit through the pivot hole when attaching my SAA upper. Took a nail filer to the pin and now...

No tags, Identifiers, or even a 'made in china' sticker? I wouldn't wear that thing even if my opposition had nothing but a potato gun. Clean it up, and attach a sticky note to it that says 'Display use only'.

Haven't you seen that movie 'Quarantine'? I'll GTFO and quickly. No need to wait until the screams begin or one of your co-workers start eating the face off the janitor. Re: What will happen if War starts in NK?

Why is it that people think that we can just nuke places and suffer no consequences? If we nuke NK the radiation and fallout from such an attack would affect S. Korea, India, China and Japan. Not only would the latter two possibly unite against the U.S., the UN wouldn’t back us. Probably would deem ...

Re: Russia Nearing Final Stages For New Assault Rifle

I'll believe it when I see it. This is a prime candidate for a "banned by executive order." And why on earth would they make it in .223, when 7.62 X 39 or 5.45 X 39 is so much cheaper and readily available? the x39 rounds don't have the accuracy, nor are they as popular in the export market where t...

I'd look for a used Springfield Loaded Combat or save another $300 and get a brand new one. yeah a $400 no name 1911 is going to be nothing but a pain in the ass. if that is your price range look for a good poly 45 maybe an M&P or glock i love 1911s but aint no body got time for a cheap 1911 you co...

Re: If I'm not going to shoot a long ways why would I want a

A Springfield SOCOM II is 10.5 pounds without a magazine A typical M4 carbine is 6.4 pounds without a magazine A Socom II is a heavy bitch. I'd say the typical M4 type carbine also weighs more than 6.4 lbs. A Colt LE6920 weighs 6.95 lbs, and that's about as typical as they get. That's with no rail,...

Re: If I'm not going to shoot a long ways why would I want a

I really think that the contributing factor is how much trigger time you have behind any given rifle. Time + ammo is guaranteed to increase anyone’s proficiency level. Even though in a SHTF situation I will choose a 5.56 rifle over a 7.62, I admit that the AR10 platform is how I got better with my A...
