Re: Next meeting?

Magda is a girl... -fenris- Shh! :p I'm still around, but without a lot of net access. We were having meetings every month in Fayetteville, but until we get some more green names going, we can't move forward with any of the ideas we've been developing. We're networked with some other groups in NWA,...

Re: Overnight With EDC and Car

We're back! Sorry guys, should have been a little clearer. I didn't spend the night INSIDE the car, just used it for transport and limited myself to the gear already packed in it. ;) I decided to check out some public land we'd never been to for this run so I wouldn't know what exactly to expect. He...

Overnight With EDC and Car (Completed!)

The weather's great and I'm bored. Headed out the door with the dog and what's on me right now for a spontaneous bug out drill. The BOB's not coming because I've been a very bad prepper and left it in the middle of a re-pack for weeks. Write up and pics when we get back tomorrow. :)

Re: Infinite Veggies

Pardon my ignorance, but- is it the "Greens" that you're eating? Do they taste like onions? I'm used to just eating the onion itself. Neat idea! Yeah, I'm snipping off and eating the green part as it grows. You can eat the whites at the bottom if you want, but thats what keeps them coming back. The...

Wind transfers pollen from one corn stalk to another, so make sure you plant a block of corn rather than a row. If your corn isn't pollinated, you'll see "blank" spots on the ears. Here's some info: Sexual Dysfunction in the Corn Field

Re: Plans for loose change?

Also, you can save your quarters to use them like Alice . Haha, beat me to it! I've got a trick-or-treat pumpkin to collect change, it just goes into the bank when needed. There are usually over a hundred bucks in there unless the quarters have been skimmed out. You could always fill the toe end of...

Re: Infinite Veggies

My only concern would be the foil you mentioned- it's not aluminum is it? I'd be concerned if it were, because some water supplies, like my own, are acidic, and can actually dissolve aluminum- which would end up in your food. Maybe some gravel, instead? Hmmm. Yeah, it was aluminum. I'm not sure if ...

Infinite Veggies

Here's a quick look into my infinite onions project. I was making some cream cheese dip one day and realized the green onions I was cutting up for it looked kinda like plants. A quick internet search confirmed that, in fact, they were! The tastey bits turned out to be leaves, and the ends were their...

Meeting: March 2011

Hey, it's about that time again. We'll be getting together this Sunday 1:00pm, same place as last time unless popular vote moves us somewhere with a couple more pool tables. ;) UPDATE: Official meeting location is Art's Place. It's at 2530 North College Avenue in Fayetteville. Join us for beer, burg...

Re: Meeting: January 2011

It went great, despite a few technical problems during the slideshow and an attack by a stray "safety" pin. After going over last year's highlights, and some upcoming conventions, we began planning our first fundraising and community outreach events of the year. This Spring, we'll be setting up a bo...

Re: Snowpocalypse 2011

I had some fun with my Bug Out Bag when some well-meaning police officers prevented a few of us motorists from tempting fate on a steep and icy hill by directing us down an even steeper one. A hedge, gas line, and a couple of houses later we were all OK.

A few people have contacted me about getting a video conference system in place for the meetings, we'll try to get that going by the next one. There's already a Vent Server set up for voice conference. Info Here.

As long as they stay dead, we should be fine. I heard horror stories from ground zero of families waking up to men in hazmat suits climbing around on their roofs, but no good follow up.

I delivered a pizza to a house that had nothing in it but my customer and a giant inflatable cupcake. He was a great tipper.

Re: Family Flu/Cold Preps??

We've got a small plastic tub in the closet with some specific Flu/Sick Day preps. The item are all duplicates of things found elsewhere in the house, but better two than one, and the box is a convenient all in one storage area when you don't feel like crawling far out of bed. The same closet houses...

I'm from that direction. A lot goes on under the surface. Hot Springs can be rough if you're looking for trouble, but generally speaking, I'd say that the average resident or traveler would be pretty safe walking its streets at night.
