Re: Filled a Steyr-shaped hole in the collection.

I have a Steyr GB, too. It's one of the few fixed barrel semi-autos handguns. Fortunately, I bought a few extra mags and mag springs when I got it. I think you'll find it cycles best with +P.

Like the HK. Don't like Glocks. Good move.

The last time I checked, mags could be had for $30 from midway.

Ice cream, too. Your basic 1/2 gallon went from 2 quarts to 1.75 to 1.5 quarts. It's not easy being a fat man these days.

Re: Advice about buying silver

Someone please explain how crashing JP Morgan accomplishes anything? It's apparent the gov thinks they're one of the too big to fail banks and they'll just get a bailout. Kill JP Morgan so our kids and grandkids get to foot the bill? Where's the upside?

Re: TSA new "naked" airport scanners, anybody been through t

I told my boss I wasn't flying anymore after I had a double hands inside my pants adventure with the TSA a couple of weeks ago. I don't mind the metal detector, but I draw the line at the rectal exam.

Something to keep in mind is swim goggles only correct for diopters.

Re: East Coast Snow Storm - Feb. 5th

Roofs are collapsing around here. This is a pic of the firehouse I vote at; the roof collapsed and broke a gas main. Fortunately, no one was hurt. This is the 3rd firehouse roof collapse in the area. Odd.

Re: East Coast Snow Storm - Feb. 5th

I'm at 21" of global warming here in central MD so far. I expect we'll reach 30" by the time it ends. I went out and shoveled some this morning; it's a heavy snow and the folks from the SHA have created a 4' high, 8' deep mountain of snow, slush, and ice at the end of my driveway. I think a flamethr...

Re: What's going price for a new case of MREs?

I'd check the dates on those Trio bars. I believe they have a relatively short shelf life (< 1 year). Thanks for the heads up. I looked and you are correct, it is pretty short. I'm usually a pretty brave eater when it comes to expiration dates, eschewing only those items by date that contain the bi...

Re: Starting Food Storage - Sams / Costco worth it?

Costco has great produce. You might want to keep and eye on mycokerewards.com - they had a free Costco membership for 1250 points a few months back. Of course, you'd have to enter a lot of codes from Coke bottle caps.

Re: The years ahead......

I disagree with some of this. The dollar is low, but I don't see that continuing much further. As the dollar recovers, I expect the stock market to decline as well as commodities. I went all cash in mid Oct and that's looking pretty smart so far. I plan to buy back in when the stock market correctio...

Springfield 1911 price check

I have an inside track on a SA Imbel made 1911 A1 like: http://www.cabelas.com/gun-inventory---glendale---handgun---1395416-sprg1911bkss45.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; except it's blued (or parked, didn't really notice). He's asking $500, which seems like a good price. I'd sa...
