Re: Bug Out Vehicle Porn - pictures only please

Got a new BOV on monday, a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser/Prado 150. Was new in November 13, so it got almost a wiff of New-Car-Smell left. 45.000km's on the odometer. 2-seater (special rules for Norway, it makes the car cheaper to buy as new, because of tax-breaks given for "utility vehicles". I can rebu...

Re: Looking for a compact SUV or AWD vehicle

I've owned a 1999 Honda CR-V for 3 years now, and while it's quite a capable car, it ain't especially fuel efficient (mines a automatic). Other than that it has a few quirks (the locks can freeze in the winter), but all in all an OK car. (Caveat; I'm selling mine cause I've bought a Toyota Land Crui...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

I really like the MVP. The barrel is heavy, but it's still pretty light on the front end. I threw a spare RVG on the front and it's almost as quick as a lighter-barreled AR to swing. Trigger is absolutely a match for a Savage Accutrigger, the bolt is almost-Enfield quick, and mags lock in solidly. ...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

Got it for a decent price way back in the day, like the glass and everything, but since I unbuilt the gun it was originally on I'm not sure it's the best glass for the MVP. Hmmm, doesn't look to bad. (Don't have any experience, but the 'numbers' do look good). My thought is that it shouldn't be too...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

Hmm. May need to jsut take a trip to the OCala range and see what I can hit and where. It's got zero stops and a ranging reticle, but the reticle is calibrated for a longer barrel (175gr SMK@2600, 168SMK@2700) so I'm afraid the shorter barrel might preclude using the reticle for good holdovers. I d...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

.308, 16" barrel bolt-action wearing a 1-4x FFP. Need to zero, thinking 168gr, maybe something heavier? I'm thinking 50m zero for the irons, maybe 100m? And then 200m for the optic? I say 168gr. On the optic; I'm guessing this ain't no 'tactical' scope that gives you the ability to use the turret t...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

Sooo, a buddy of mine wanted to incorporate his hobby (web)store, and I (and a other buddy) chipped in. The papers went trough today, and as of now I officially own 24% of a guncompany catering to long range shooters here in Norway. Guess I can cross off # Start a company from my Bucketlist :awesome:

Re: Glock rmr milling

I was looking into this (though I've found a guy that can do it here in Norway) as I want to build up a G17. There's information out there, this guy's video(s) about milling a slide gives a lot of info.

Re: Godzilla, May 2014

Saw it this week, and I dunno. I don't have any problem with the monsters, but a lot of the human stuff(decisions/planning/etc) was just too stupid, and obviously done to keep the suspense up and driving the plot forward.

They've been issued here in Norway, and I've handled them briefly. As I remember they weren't all that bulky. Gonna talk to buddy tomorrow to see i...

EDC TQ

I'm considering to add a TQ to my EDC gear. Since I don't usually run a manpurse, this has to go into my jacket, and thus needs to be smaller than the CAT's that I stash in my medkits. Now I've found 3 canidates, and that's the SWAT-T, the TK-4 and the RATS . Just looking at pictures I've found that...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

But I do know I want to throw money pointlessly at this Enfield. Stock is ugly but functional, and it came with the original ramp sight in a baggy and what appears to be a Mini14 front sight. I heard tell that a gentleman had attached a sidefolder to one somehow, but I can't find a pictorial or sup...

Quick update. Shot a "Hunting-competition" (animal targets at different distances, shot while sitting "on post") yesterday, and before the competition we got 3 sight in shots. This was my group at 100m, using the same ammo as last time, but with a lower bipod: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x48...

Nah, bought an almost unused slide with a threaded barrel innit. Gonna build myself a RMR-equipped slide.

Re: A story about a Mauser 98k

Nice, those in that same (166US $) price range? Or more? I checked. There's 2 out for sale now for 1500NOK, so yes. BTW, since many of those Swedish Mausers have threaded barrels for blank firing devices are you able to make use of those for a suppressor? Or do you have to use some other means? I d...

Re: A story about a Mauser 98k

I don't doubt the power of .308 on medium to large game...and I don't doubt the Mauser's reliability...but personally I would want a bigger front-hole if I was dealing with a polar bear (or anything else that can eat me) :D I would want something along the lines of a wheeled howitzer to deal with a...

A story about a Mauser 98k

So, 4 years ago in June I was at the range, discussing Mauser 98k's , and their continuous popularity as a self defense gun against polar bears on Svalbard (they are really cheap and always work), I was arguing the need for a upgrade. So I went home, searched the net, and found a Kongsberg KV59, whi...
