Re: Updating my Zombie Squad AR.

One of the goals of this update was to put that gun on a diet. That basic fact was my 16” ar15 was heavier than my ar180b, and I simply found myself leaving the ar behind most of the time. I know the light was a lot of it, but even with that off it felt chunky up front. It didn’t help that the light...

Updating my Zombie Squad AR.

A while back some of us did a group buy on a ZS lower receiver and built ARs with them. It was my first build and I had a lot of fun with it. This is how it looked just after completion. https://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u161/rburch20/edited-image_zpsrylyvloi.png Well over the years since I’d twea...

Re: Colt Detective Special

So taught the range portion of a defensive pistol class today. One of the students, actually my grandmother, had a dinky little Taurus Revolver, i can't remember which model, but the 9-shot 22lr one. Even going to single action the trigger was too stiff for her to shoot it. In addition I couldn't ev...

Re: Colt Detective Special

It took a little longer than planned, but opened my mailbox this evening to find 2 Safariland JD9 speed loaders waiting for me. The seller accidentally sent a set for a python the first time, but made it right. Between that and the random k-frame loader that fit it, I've got 3 reloads at hand for dr...

Re: Colt Detective Special

I've put 54 rounds through the gun so far without any issues.

36 rounds were the new Winchester W line hollow points, I have to say I'm impressed with the accuracy of that round out of the 2" barrel.

I really like this gun.

Colt Detective Special

So I finally broke down and picked up the Detective Special that's been sitting on a local pawn shop shelf. Based on the serial number it was made in 1975. The finish has a bit of wear, but it seems to be in good shape internally. I did have to open her up and do some cleaning and tighten the bolt s...

I change my carry more often than I probably should...

The past week I've been carrying my little Taurus 357 (either 650 or 850 I forget which one is the 357)

For most of the past year my main carry was either my FNS-9 or my Kahr CW9.

But I would still carry my CZ-PCR or the Taurus on occasion too.

Re: FNH FS-9

I really like mine. I've had it for a little over a year and I've been shooting it in monthly IDPA matches since last September, between that and personal range time I have at least 2000 rounds through it without cleaning it. Not a huge reliability test, but certainly shows that the FNS can be relia...

New they go for $600+

I'd go for it in a heartbeat at that price, especially if it's the no safety version.

Re: 1911A1 Argentina Edition *Pics added*

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm planning a full spring replacement in the near furtue. My Dad's Birthday was this week, so the Recoil & Trigger Springs, 2 mags, extractor and slide stop were his gift. Future work will be his christmas gift, thinking new safety, and the rest of the springs. I messed u...

Re: 1911A1 Argentina Edition *Pics added*

So ordered a couple mags, extractor, recoil & firing pin springs, the slide stop and safety are also on the list, but backordered at the moment. My main goal right now is to get the extraction & feeding issues fixed. I'm hoping the spring, mags, extractor will make it reliable. The total plan is to ...

Re: Role Playing- what type of gun would you choose?

Hard a hard time deciding between the 700 and the beretta. But in the end as much as I hate that model, I'd have to go with the Beretta. My reason is simple, it's better to have a gun, and the beretta would be easy enough to carry while repairing fences, cooking, etc. The stuff that would take up mo...

Re: New Holsters from Gun Nut 2k1

Minor update, I've had the revolver holster out on the range a few times now, and I really like it. I've transitioned to reloading with my strong hand with the revolver and find it works much better than my previous methods, but finding ways to carry ammo on the same side as my gun was problematic. ...

These have a thinner leather, but I've gotten thin ones from other makers including galco, and I got a thicker holster from gun nut for my brothers Sr9.

Yeah for leather I've yet to find anything to beet the quality of his work. I have leather from Galco, High Noon, Desantis, etc. I'd rank these right there with the top brands for leather.

New Holsters from Gun Nut 2k1

So I've been slacking and failed to get these posted up here when they came in, but better late than never. I ordered a couple holsters from Gun Nut for my Kahr CW9 and my Taurus Snubby. The Kahr is just a simple but well made holster, the revolver holster however was a custom job. I asked Gun Nut t...

Re: SHTF ammo availability myth

Oh there's plenty of ammo available in my area, it's just not for sale. The common calibers might be easier to find in a PAW, but the demand for them will be higher too. In short the only way you'll be able to get them would be through actions most people would consider wrong. Since I'm not willing ...

Re: FNH FNS-9 newest gun in my stable...

Mine has been pretty reliable. 1,000 rounds down the pipe with no failures to speak of. Sweet little gun. I have mine on BUG duty. Feeds Hornady Critical Duty 135 +P like a beast. It groups real well too. Plus has that 1911-ish grip angle that I love. And for some reason I like the look of guns wit...

So I've put 300 rounds through the gun now, 200 random fmj range ammo (whatever i can find) and 100 Hornady Critical Defense. While I prefer to shoot at least 200 of my carry load before carrying a gun, the current ammo run leaves me unable to find any more to test. I have just enough ammo to fill t...

Re: Holster from Gun_Nut_2k1

So we went out and I ran him through some drills yesterday evening. Only got through about 200 rounds but it was a good session. He'd never shot live ammo staring from the holster, so did a few minutes without ammo to get the motion, and then went live. He did amazing, by the end we were doing multi...
