Re: Best 22lr pistol for a kid/teen
I've been teaching my 7 year old on a mark III 22/45 stainless bull barrel. I found he would get fatigued and stop working on fundamentals because of the weight.I just got him the ruger sr 22 and he can shoot that all day. Because of the light spring he can work the action safely. He did anticipate ...

Re: COZS Food Drive
Wow, the makeup job and the photography, very impressive. I’m floored at the expertise our group has. We have a little of everything. Special thanks to Imp and PoorImpulseControl for the AV and the team for making the food drive successful. It was a great night, with a good group. Thanks for letting...

Re: COZS Food Drive
I’ll be presenting until 5pm on the 24th in Englewood. It’s a two day presentation so will stay the night. This means I will be at the venue at 6:30pmish, but can stay later for clean-up. I could bring general disaster preparedness brochures and ZS brochures if you want an info table. It wouldn’t hu...

Re: COZS CHL Training
Sounds like a productive day and fun was had by all. For me today was good and bad. Good news is a massive work project is done; bad news, I’m dependent on all of you to protect me. I guess I’m ok being the damsel in distress. HAHA

Re: Personal experiance with the Red Cross.
I was thinking the same thing Raptor. Comment on the American Red Cross CEO salary. Although high, it is well under the average of % of expense (%.01). Don’t forget, with blood, CPR training, disaster response, Service to the Armed Forces, International Services, community disaster education etc, it...

Re: Personal experiance with the Red Cross.
It is amazing how politics can be amplified in collaborative situations. Throw in a disaster and it escalates to all time highs. We had similar challenges at my Red Cross Chapter. We worked very close with a local ham club. My predecessor then started relying heavily on ARES, which was the new kid. ...

Re: COZS North shoot Jan. 3
I’m in depending on the date. I have the usually camping gear. I also have access to 2-10x10 easy-up tents (standard white event tents). This will give us a 10x20 foot shade area. I would need to drive down and could pick people up. The tents will take up the entire back of an SUV so seating will be...

What a great time, hanging out with this crew makes me realize I need more firepower. I might need a second job to pay for said firepower. Thanks to those who introduced me to new firearms.

Re: COZS Food Drive
Minus the creative artsy stuff I can do the printing. In house I can print 18x24 and have kick ass deals for all other printing. I’m sure we can use the ZS tri-fold, just not advertise as ZS. I’m in, this will kick ass.

Re: Colorado ZS communication drill Jan 24th
I had a conversation with my exercise safety officer and he had concerns with weather on the communication exercise. I personally think the concern is not for us, but the $350,000 Emergency Communication Response Vehicle (for your viewing pleasure see below). This will also help with the folk who ar...

Re: Colorado ZS communication drill Jan 24th
Sorry folk’s holidays are always a pain to get coverage for. I just finished an interesting conversation with my volunteer counterpart (2nd in command) about ZS. A few strange looks later he is a go for the 24th. We will have Red Crosser's ride along. The Red Crosser will be planted with injects and...

Re: Colorado ZS communication drill Jan 24th
OK, so I talked to my communications lead and a few other agencies. The interest is high and the 24th is set. Dug mentioned an opportunity to use the HF if we wanted. As it stands, we have 4 separate 2 meters and the 47.42Mhz fired up. We have a little antenna work that needs to be done; if anyone i...

Colorado ZS communication drill moved to March
CO ZS’er, I’ve committed to the CO team to have a meet in Northern CO geared around Ham communication. I think a drill to test personal equipment and Red Cross equipment could meet the need. Edit: We will move the exercise to March. Drill will test back-up communication to support sheltering, feedin...
