Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

Whilst it's far too soon to judge whether this was a domestic attack or otherwise, it has been mooted elsewhere this happened on the same holiday as the Oklahoma Bombing.

Re: Weird Vehicle Tampering

My thoughts are probably someone (or maybe more than one) who for some reason is trying to intimidate you/the previous residents into leaving.. You mean old man Hendershott, the caretaker? Trying to scare folks off so he can re-open the old abandoned gold mine? I'd be more inclined to say it's the ...

Re: James Bond's Slingshot Pistol

I think my inspiration was Cholo in "Land of the dead" who was using a spring loaded spear gun pistol.
If you load that thing from a boot mounted quiver, you might just be the coolest man in the world.

This instantly reminded me of a film from my childhood.

Sky Pirates, a kid's movie in which two boys wage a battle against diamond smugglers with radio controlled model Spitfire aeroplanes loaded with darts.

Re: London Riots 08/07/2011

Cops move in on suspect, suspect pulls a piece and shoots a cop, cops shoot suspect. Can someone explain to me where 'villagers rise up and rally against evil dictatorship' fits into that scenario? I understand the shooting was more of a flashpoint/trigger event than a causative reason. Pre-existin...

Re: Never give a sword to a man who can't dance

Does it make me a nerd or a dork that my main issue with the article was this bit:
Highlander, a film and television series about immortal, time-traveling swordsmen.
I thought the immortal swordsmen travelled through time in the conventional manner, ie. chronologically?

Ok, disregard my earlier post. Just noticed in a separate thread you already have a shotgun and are therefore much better acquainted with firearm law than me. In that case, the catapults do look good for your stated purposes (as long you have plenty of time for practice): won't draw unwanted attenti...

Re: Survival Hunting Weapon

It may seem a silly questionbut have you considered a rifle or shotgun? It may not seem like it but the relevant licences aren't as impossible to get as you might think. I understand a few UK based ZS'ers have perfectly legal firearms.
