Re: How to spot a douchebag in the woods:

Good for the earth huh? I'd like to know what sort of manufacturing process goes into producing all those canteens and leather pouches. Would it be wrong for us to bombard their customer service account with emails?

How do you carry this mother? I am an avid hiker/backpacker and am going on my second winter expedition. First time I pulled a sled but this time due to terrain it may not be feasible. The only thing I can think of is strapping this beast to the top or bottom of my pack (50L). Does anyone have any o...

Does anybody have experience with this folder or models similar to it? My problem is that the pivot screw is very loose. I can actually turn it by just using pressure from my finger. It feels like after an extended period of folding and unfolding the pivot screw could work it's way out unless consta...

Photon Freedom Micro LED Flashlight
I would replace that with a Fenix E01. Very small and runs for 20 hours with just one AAA. 9 hours of the run time is absolute flat non-dimming regulation. I was forced to use just the E01...

What's a "breaker notch" used for?

I was looking at the Becker BK11 and I've seen these notches cut into a lot of other knives/tools but what exactly are they for?

Civilian Labs

Thought this would be of interest to those looking for some sort of EDC bag. The holsters, etc. are a bit outlandish for my taste but I can't deny that they are practical.

I am a big fan of their retractable cable leash.

So I made my first pop can stove and it actually worked! I was wondering what you guys use to carry your fuel supply in. Is any plastic or Nalgene like container ok? Also are there any health risks from burning heet to heat your food?

How do these work? Do they give off any gases? Like is it safe to throw in a sleeping bag or bivy and not asphyxiate myself?

What would YOU fill it with?

I have an LBT drop leg pouch (sorry no pictures but it has a few pockets on one side and 3 rows of elastic loops on the other, 7"x10" when zipped closed). I think it's too small to be an effective BOB but might be useful as some sort of emergency car kit? It will probably just sit in the trunk of my...

Thickness of the blade? Hell its only $8, but is it going to bend and then snap if its used to pry?
Knives are for cutting, not for prying.

Check your local mil surplus stores. I get mine from a surplus store at the local mall. 100 ft. for $10 CAD. Comparable to what you would find on ebay after you include shipping. Avoid camping stores. They carry crap.
