Re: what breed of sheep is best for texas

We are getting ready to add goats to our new home/property that we just moved to in North Texas. I have been reading all I can and have talked to quite a few breeders of various goat and sheep breeds to try to figure out which breed would be the best for our family. I don't have them yet so I am cer...

Re: Robinson Arms M96 price?

Gelgoog: Are you sure? Not saying you are wrong but I swear that a few years ago I saw a big article in one of the gun rags about the robinson version. I thought they said that it could be converted to belt fed, as well as converted to top fed with same magazines? Was that just an early version? Or ...

Re: Blackhawk IWB holster review - with pics!

Sounds a lot like my Galco stow'n go (except the stow'n go is leather). It also completely collapses when you draw the weapon. Not a big deal to me. Doesn't have a retention strap but personally I prefer it that way.

Re: Bolt action rifle question 54r vs 30-06

Check local pawn shops, gun stores, gun shows, gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com and various gun forum/discussion board sale/barter sections (THR.org, THR.us, the firing line forums, etc) for a used savage, stevens, remington 700, winchester 70, etc 308 or 30-06. I also like the idea of picking up a...

Re: Bolt action rifle question 54r vs 30-06

Depends what you really want out of the gun. Reliable, unbreakable, any idiot can use it shtf bolt gun that can be a last ditch rifle and/or handed out to new-comers/family/friends? I'd go with the M44 and a few spam cans of ammo (think current average is 440 rounds for around $80 but not certain as...

Re: Different kind of transportation thread - unrefueled radius.

Diesel vehicles can idle a heck of a lot longer. I can leave my 00 F250 with 7.3L idling forever. No idea how long but I slept in it during a white out blizzard once in a truck stop parking lot. Left it running for well over 10 hours. I don't remember exactly, but I know I used less than an 8th of a...

Re: Judge 45lc +P?

Me either, like I said, "supposedly". Personally if I wanted to fire 410 I would buy a 410. If I wanted to fire 45 colt (+P or not) I would buy a 45 colt. The Judge (not even counting that it is Taurus) does not excel at either role.

Re: Judge 45lc +P?

Its a Taurus...fuck Taurus. And the concept of the JUDGE is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine anyways... But to answer your question, yes the Judge can handle hot loads, but I'd not make a regular habit of feeding them to it. The 2 1/2" can supposedly handle +p OCCASIONALLY. The 3" ch...

Re: Where to put my CCW when riding two wheels.

Friend of the family has been carrying on his Harley for over 25 years. He has only in the last 2 years given any concern to legality of anything he does and took his CHL license at the same time I did with my wife and father. Most of the time he has it in a small of the back holster. Sometimes he p...

Re: Help me pick out my first and probably only gun

Like others my first thought was that you should get a pump action 12 gauge as your only home defense/shtf defensive weapon. But to stay within your parameters I would suggest one or both of the following. Since you said a revolver, Ruger GP-100 with a 4" - 6" Barrel. It is 357 Magnum (very potent s...

bradfran, I read you loud and clear, BUT if the very terms of that contract you sign stipulate the other party can back out of x, y and z terms if there are any defects in the document, well then sir you have put yourself in an uncomfortable position. You are the only one bound by all terms. I don'...

Re: Hiding in forest- what weapons are best?

ok say you've got a hideout in a forest. how would that affect your weapons set up? what weapons would you pick for such a scenario? Since your title states you are HIDING in the forest, I would say silent, or atleast quieter weapons. Bow and Arrow and/or cross bow (personally I would go with recur...

Re: wow....anybody need 9mm!

Doesn't matter. Once a confirmation email (confirming not only that you placed an order, but that they approved the transaction and price and clearly listed the agreed price per item, per tax, and per shipping) is delivered, the contract is signed...legally in Texas and some other states. For exampl...

Yeah I know, it's just that I grew up there (rural area west of metroplex) and everytime family or friends would visit we went to all of those places. Trip to St Louis CCW ?'s

I am going to be visiting my brother and his family in St Louis in a couple of weeks. I have a CHL in Texas and am wondering if anyone knows about a few of the places he wants to take his kids while my wife and I are visiting. I grew up in St Louis and have been to all of these places, but some I wo...
