Re: CHL - what % of our chapter has it?

I voted "yes" and have had the "yes" option for a little over 7 years now. I've learned to love using my pocket for carry. Being a big guy and trying to carry concealed can get uncomfortable and at times painful with the gut and love handles. So any other big guys debating about carrying for this re...

Re: Group buys.

I have a connection for 5 gal food grade buckets with lids for only $2 each. That seems to be the best deal I can find besides getting them for free. The lids have the rubber seal in them and I buy 10 buckets at a time. I have not called in a couple of months because I don't need anymore buckets so ...

Re: Cheap Ammo

I do the math occasionally and for a while now Wal-Mart has some good deals. Granted it has been about 3 months since I last checked but for. 223 WM has the dark red box of Federal 100rds for $38. Now if you figure either gas to drive somewhere or shipping to you WM has a better deal. That's roughly...

Re: Maintenance questions!

As far as manuals go Haynes/Hilton are fine but nothing beats a factory service manual. Yes they are not the cheapest but are the best, meanwhile most weekend mechanics will be fine with the $25 Haynes. Fuel filter: 1) remove fuse that is for the fuel pump 2) turn key as if you were going to start b...

Re: So what's the plan? (Bug Out)

I kind of in the same boat as you. I had a plan but now it IS changing since buying a home. Well maybe not changing but adapting. The biggest being the "when?". It is going to need to be a very serious situation for me to bug out and that is why my BOB is now turning into an INCH bag. You've already...

Re: Taking man's best friends with you.

Without question the puppy comes with us. He wouldn't be able to hold a pack being an old weenie dog but if it ever comes to it I'd figure out a way for him. There is another thread on here somewhere, maybe a little over a year ago, and I remember the packs you mentioned being very popular. Unfortun...

Re: Zombie School

I got to laughing at myself while making my list for my bug out bag. Of course compass and maps were on my list, but I realized I had no idea how to use them. I mean I can read a compass, don't get me wrong. But don't know how to use the two for actual navigation. I'd be in for the nav and first ai...

Re: What did you do today to prep?

Finished the food prep list. No not buying just getting the list together to know what to buy and how much to buy and how much money. The list is really only food and not other preps like barter items, ammo, sundries, stuff like that. It's kind of specific to what me and the family eat as well as th...

Re: Zombie Sch Topic: all-terrain, 2-wheeled transport

I love to ride and am down for a beginner ride if one comes about. Here is the issue, I'm a single speed 24" cruiser rider. I would love to get back in to MTB riding but those things cost so much money now and it is simply not in the budget. BUT, if you guys do a downtown ride around Austin trip I'm...

Re: Prepping and marirage

My wife came on board after Katrina, although we were not anywhere near what went down she understood that things can happen. More often prepping gets a bad wrap because people assume that you prepare for zombies or the end or a major wordly event but I feel that could't be more wrong. I truly feel ...

Yet another meet that I plan on coming to and for some reason I'm sure I will miss it also. When and where? I'll be there (unless something comes) Unfortunately all I can come up with is Double Dave's Pizza. They have buffets on Wednesday nights at all locations. I'm fat so everything that I am comi...

This is unFingbelievable, I will be missing this seminar. I have to help family move this weekend. Keep in mind they closed on the house 3 weeks ago BUT they are now moving, WTactualF. Yes I am pissed. I've asked them over and over since they closed when they are moving, but no answer. I'm seriously...

Probably like most on here, Jack of all Master of none. Plumbing is my strongest while other stuff around the house I can usually repair, remove, replace, install,. . . you get the point. I don't do carpet or anything that uses a ladder above 10ft. Partly because I hate ladders (I don't mind height...

I really need to start going to these Austin events and stop using horrible excuses for missing them, but this one I do want to make. Damn I hope nothing comes up and I will actually be there. Sounds like it should be interesting and I will more than likely learn a few things.

Thanks 3fingas for the links the nwt place has some a seriously low mark-up above spot. I have been buying an ounce at a time at McBrides on Lamar just because I trust them more than some of the pawn shops. Not that pawn shops are shady, it was my lack of knowledge before I started buying. The only ...

I have no idea how y'all are fitting the Alice packs because my large does not even come close. 6'3" 344# I'm telling you it looks like it fits that "fat guy in a little coat" joke, it literally seems like I'm wearing a kids pack. My bad, I thought I posted back on here. Well after debating what to do with some of our savings we decided to by a house. So as much as I would love to pick up some silver while it's still cheap the money went to the loan. Nice 3/2 in Liberty Hill with neighbors far away, that was a big deal to me....

Local silver?

I want to start buying some silver but not sure or what to look for when I start buying, so, do any of y'all have any spots that you buy from. I prefer to shop local vs an online metal retailer, the main reason is that it would be an ounce here and there and it would be easier that way. Maybe not, I...

Re: Great Gear Combo's/Tricks (PICS ADDED)

Back to the OP about the duct tape. No need to unroll and then re-wrap around cardboard to make it smaller and easier to fit. All that needs to be done is to cut out the cardboard on the inside of the roll and remove a layer of tape from the inside also to allow for a sticky surface and then press t...
