The tough guy that saves the other useless party members from their own mistakes at great personal expense or death. If you ever get in a group in which you are the toughest/most experienced member, be prepared for excruciating death because Timmy or Sally forgot to lock the door that leads to zombi...

Re: items for EDC, GHB, BOB - $1 at Target

I went to Target today and found two extremely useful things: 1.) An emergency poncho for a buck. 2.) A FAK by Johnson & Johnson for a buck. It has a few bandaids and some cleaning wipes in it, but the real value is in the nice plastic case. It shuts very securely and is slightly larger than an Alto...

I rounded out my EDC (hopefully there will be pics and a post soon) and bought some water for the trunk of my car.

Re: Hello from KY

I left LouEVIL man, but it's fun to hear that you're living so close to the old homestead. When I say I lived near Butler, I mean I woke up about twenty minutes before school started in the morning, showered, ate breakfast, and made it on time.

Re: Shades of gray: how to go unnoticed

There's one point about eye contact I'd like to make that is true but will make me sound like an elitist dick. I was raised to be fairly friendly (either by Southern nature or my parents efforts), so the advice about smiling and making brief eye contact I followed without realizing it much of my lif...

Five, huh? I was hoping there would be seven (3 in Diablo, 5 in Diablo 2) or more. I suppose that will be the first expansion pack, huh? I am really excited. Not even sure if my computer could handle it (its brand new, but it's also a laptop...more for business/school than play), but I am willing to...

Re: Hello from Lexington, KY!

I love it here too, but I think part of loving something is accepting its faults. To me, Lexington is like an old dog whose starting to show his age - he doesn't run quite as fast, his eyesight isn't as sharp, he starts having little "accidents" here and there - but you keep him around because you'r...

Re: Best melee weapon for dorm life?

I'm sorry, I have to say this is the most unintentionally hilarious thread I've stumbled upon in a long while. Fish, dildos, and draft taps, oh my! I lived in the dorms for two years and was fortunate enough to room with the same friend both times, so nothing I can impart to you from my own experien...

When I was a kid, maybe 7 or 8, my Dad was involved in an industrial accident at an oil reprocessing plant. A part broke, one of the machines build up pressure, and exploded. He was fighting the fire per company policy when the second, larger explosion happened. It set him on fire, and blew him 30 f...

Re: Bugging Out to Wal-Mart, Costco, Sams Club: No!

No matter where you think of, there are numerous others (dozens? hundreds? thousands?) that have the same thought. That's the beauty of preparing your home/apartment in advance - there are literally only a handful of people that would think of going there, and you probably want them all there (i.e. ...

Which ones were you looking at? Any website recommendations? B...

Re: Kentucky Plant Worker Shoots 4 Dead before himself

That's been the cover story on most of our newspapers for a few days, starting with the full page cover up and slowly migrating to the side and bottom columns. I really don't know what to say when this stuff happens; I'm torn between wondering what the hell was wrong with the guy that made him do it...

Best way to stay alert?

Here's my thought process. In the event of any disaster, I need to be informed. A weather radio is a good way to do so, but I can't listen to one all day. Also, what about man-made disasters, or the truly bizarre stuff we all talk about on here (zombies, raptors, robots, LOLosaurus)? Would that even...

What I'm more worried about is some friendly military unit showing up at my door in a disaster trying to evacuate me to a government run shanty town/shelter/hell hole. Anyone know what the procedure is? Can I just say, "No thank you, please go" or do they have some sort of obligation to drag me alon...

Welcome from a little closer, Lexington itself. Hope you're liking the city so far. Lexington - terrible roads, bored to death, but hey, at least it's home! With a few more people from the Bluegrass state joining up, we may have our own branch (or whatever) soon.

Re: "The Happening" by M. Night Shyamalan - *Spoilers Inside*

My girlfriend and I were interested in this movie, so we went and saw it back to back with the Hulk. The idea was that if The Happening was terrible, we had the Hulk to cheer us up with smashing. Thank God for foresight. I really didn't like this movie, for the reasons others have pointed out - stil...
