Small PSA:

When adding essential oils (say one word about it being girly and I'll ban you to Zombie Biology) be sure to add about 1/2 what you think is necessary.

5 drops per 10 gallons, good. 20 drops = leaving you smelling like a tart's hankerchief.

That'll work. Odds are, it hasn't changed much if at all since they used it last.

I used the jalapeno recipe therein last year and it came out pretty darn well. The only issue was the jalapenos didn't last nearly long enough :(

Re: Pickled Jalapeno recipes needed

I am getting a ton of jalapenos from my planter this year and I would like to pickle some. I am having trouble finding a recipe for sliced jalapenos. Can I get some help please. I have never canned anything, but I have access to my parents canning gear for the next couple weeks. Pick up the Ball Bl...

Mikieg, per my PM, you are not allowed to sell counterfeit products here on ZS. Should you continue to do so, I will ban your account.

Where'd you get it? The Spice House has it for $7/lb, but I order most all of my spices from them anyway.
Amazon after a ton of searching. Finally gave up. Thanks for the new link :)

Go after pics? I've never had a pickled egg but I must say... they do look interesting. The after pics look just like the before pics, however depending on what you put in the pickling solution, you'll have a different looking egg. For example: beets will dye the egg a pretty shade of purple. If yo...

there's a reason why people have been doing this for centuries and haven't died as a direct result ;) We don't know that. There's no reason to waterbath can pickled eggs. In fact, it'll make the eggs turn a funny color, not to mention I bet it'll make the flavor a bit unique.

Stick with the recipes, there's a reason why people have been doing this for centuries and haven't died as a direct result ;)

Heh I was just about to say, "Why not make them into cubes on purpose?" The Borax and Washing Soda will both clump in their own right. I'm going to give this recipe a shot, but in order to aid clumping, I'm going to mix the dry with a bit of Dawn liquid, mold into place, then set the molds outside ...

I'd change the drum in the stryker , It's a fully automatic 25 round drum fed .12 gauge " street sweeper" shotgun. I have 4 drums for mine. 2 loaded with 00 buck, one loaded with slugs, the fourth one loaded with LTL ammo (rubber bullets) for roaming dogs, also great for dispersing drunks and punks...

How do these taste in comparison to regular ol' hardboiled eggs? I'm interested in trying this out, but if I'm not going to like the taste, whats the point in spending the time? what extras would you suggest putting in the jars for flavor? I pickled a couple more jars today, and just realized I forgot to add any pickling salt. Are they worthless now? What to do? It depends on what your brine solution is. Pickling salt is added to vinegar solutions more for flavor and the right environment to encourage lactobacillus (the bugs that mak...

Looks yummy. You gonna post what you use it on (grilled stuff, as marinade, just as dip, etc)? If you've eaten at a Thai/Vietnamese place, odds are you've tried this sauce. I put it on just about everything, but especially spring rolls, sea food and most especially, it makes a fantastic salad dress...

This is a Ball Blue Book recipe. Followed it to the letter.
