Re: Ultimate Battle/Scout Belt Thread;formerly Sigboy Scout

IIRC that's by Jones Tactical. I used one made my tactical tailor that was pretty sweet. I switched it out for an ATS tear away FAK, IMHO that's the best option. Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk I bought his old TT panel from him. It's a pretty good panel, for what I use mine for. I use it to ...

Re: My ideal multitool

I realize that there's quite a bit of Gerber hate here, but I've had good luck with my Gerber Suspension. I will agree on the cheap pot metal statement, though. I managed to snap off the tip of my knife point. I only mention this, as the Leatherman options appear to be costly. The Suspension is hard...

Re: SOS Emergency Rations.. Open seal question

the seal is broken. demand an exchange. regardless of whether their safe or not, the attraction of the product is its sealed shelf life i wouldn't take an open coke from the corner store, or some open med from CVS. Sealed means sealed, you dont have it. I didn't even have to demand it, she offered ...

Whatever guys. Like I said OP, it's your money, your family and ya'lls safety during a Bug out. Buy whatever you want. I was just offering some experiences and advice. I wheel my Jeep more than the average person and I've seen these things flip on the trail. Uphills, downhills and sidehills. No need...

Re: coleman catalytic heater

I've used one when camping a few times. They tend to act more like a radiant heater. I insulated my tent roof and left some ventilation area on the sides. It did raise the interior temp, but it started to dry out the air really bad. Also, the ventilation I had provided wasn't enough. Also, without t...

I don't know if you ever knew this.... but people die in Jeeps and other larger 4x4s too. You can't fix stupid... it is just easier for the ambulance chasers to go after these UTVs because they are factory made for off-road use. In some states like Oregon you now have to get a special permit to dri...

Re: Just Finished Lights Out.

I'm having a hard time reading the book. Not that I don't understand the subject matter, it's the fact that I do. There are just too many things right in the beginning that are too convenient, and the characters are portrayed in a way that keeps shifting back and forth. I don't know, it's hard to ex...

Re: Rzr 4 seater, my choice for a BOV

Not my cup of tea, but hey, whatever you want to spend your money on. My vote goes to a Jeep, SUV, truck, etc. Whatever. Just something with more sheet metal and protection. Personally, I wouldn't put my family in one of these during a bug out. BTW, you should look up wrecks in these things, just fo...

Re: Cleaning Canteens

Definitely clean with bleach and water first to kill off any nasties. Then wash out thoroughly with soap and hot water. Some folks even use the Denture cleaning tablets, but they're basically bleach as well. To help get rid of the plastic taste, use Vinegar and Baking soda. 1 tablespoon of BS to 2-3...

Re: SOS Emergency Rations.. Open seal question

I can see where the 3600 pack broke it's seal. It broke in two spots, right on the corners of the bars. They are just teeny tiny slits, but it was enough. I can't find the bad spots on the 2400, but it's worse than the 3600 pack. I didn't get the chance to try these tonight. My buddy never called me...

SOS Emergency Rations.. Open seal question

I got my shipment in from Emergency Essentials today. I'd ordered one of each of the following -Mainstay 2400 -Mainstay 3600 -SOS 2400 -SOS 3600 -Blueberry Millennium fruit bar Upon inspection, both SOS ration packs had lost their seal. The contents were easily movable, verses the Mainstay and Mille...

Re: Want to beef up the BOV, some questions.

OP, the Ford Explorer is a decent platform to build on, as long as you're not trying to go too hardcore. This is coming from a Jeep purist. :D The main weakness of the Explorer seems to be it's automatic transmission. They are known to fail prematurely, with normal wear and tear. I can only imagine ...

Re: Need Info on Ford Bronco (5th gen) aftermarket bumpers=M

It seemed like: when the transmission shifted, the engine had to fight a bit and didn´t bring it´s power onto the pavement. Once it reached a certain point (speed/rpm´s?) after shifting, you could tell that all of the sudden the acceleration got a lot better. It´s that dead unresponsive time after ...

Re: Anybody had a carb'd 318?

My FI 318 in my ZJ makes ~220hp/~300ft.lbs of tq. The best mileage I ever got was in stock form. I got a best of 19-20mpg. The Jeep ZJ weighs in at ~4000+/-lbs. The carbed 318 will produce less hp and tq, but will be more user friendly for power upgrades. Find the optimal balance between power to we...
